Lenovo 100e Chromebook Teardown
- Remove the Bottom Cover. Remove 10 screws from the bottom cover.
- Remove the Battery Cable.
- Remove the LCD Cable from the Motherboard.
- Remove the Palmrest, Daughterboard and Touchpad Cables.
- Remove the Speaker Cable.
- Remove the Internal Parts.
- Remove the Palmrest.
- Remove the Touchpad.
Step 1 Keyboard
- Power down the Chromebook before starting the repair.
- Opening the Chromebook voids the manufacturer warranty.
- Flip the Chromebook so that the bottom is facing up.
- Use a Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove the six 6.6 mm screws on the bottom.
- Use a spudger to remove each of the 4 rubber feet.
If your Chromebook still isn't charging:
- Check if the charger or adapter cables are completely plugged in, both to your Chromebook and the wall.
- Make sure that the power outlet is working.
- Unplug your charger from the wall and your Chromebook.
- Plug your charger back in to your Chromebook, then the wall.
Factory reset your Chromebook
- Sign out of your Chromebook.
- Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r.
- Select Restart.
- In the box that appears, select Powerwash. Continue.
- Follow the steps that appear and sign in with your Google Account.
- Once you've reset your Chromebook:
To remove your external storage devices, you must click the Eject button, which is located next to the device name on the left side of the Files window. Once you've clicked the Eject button, the device will vanish from your Files window, indicating that it is safe to remove from your Chromebook.
For you to reset your chromebook to factory defaults, press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r. Select Restart. In the box that appears, select Powerwash.
METHOD 1: Factory Reset the Chromebook while logged out of your account
- Log out of your device, or if you're already logged out, then ignore this first step.
- Press and hold simultaneously the following keys: CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + R.
- Select and confirm Restart option.
- A new box will load, click the Powerwash option.
Perform a hard reset by holding down the power and refresh keys for 10 seconds. Then check to see if the charging indicator light turns on when you plug in the charger. If not, try another hard reset and check back. If it works, they suggest charging it for an hour before trying to start it up again.
Your screen is definitely broken, almost definitely beyond repair, and a dropped chromebook is not covered by warranty (learned all this the hard way). HOWEVER, the screen can be replaced easily and fairly cheaply, in part because of the same flimsy casing that makes it easy to break.

Chromebooks cannot be overcharged. Leaving them plugged in all the time will ensure that your Chromebook is fully charged when you need to use the battery. Leaving your Chromebook plugged in will also keep your Chromebook battery from fully discharging.

- Turn down screen brightness.
- Avoid updates while running on battery.
- Remove Unnecessary Chrome Browser Extensions.
- Unplug unneeded devices To save battery life, remove other devices like phones that are charging or headphones.
- Turn off Bluetooth.
- When inactive, lock your screen.
