Baby SlingsBaby carriers that force the baby's legs to stay together may contribute to hip dysplasia. Baby carriers should support the thigh and allow the legs to spread to keep the hip in a stable position.
That's easy to do when you're carrying her around in a colorful, stylish wrap, sling or carrier. Tula carriers are designed with a wide seat, which makes it so much more comfortable for the kids.
Tula Free-to-Grow, my vote goes to the LILLEbaby Complete. I really enjoy both carriers, and I could make a case for either. But in the end, the LILLEbaby offers more carrying options, is super comfy, and has a significantly better pocket, which to me really is a big deal.
AGE: 6 months and up. Use when baby can strongly and independently support her/his head and comfortably sit with her legs around your waist.
The BabyBjorn is a slightly better choice for infants as it doesn't require the use of an infant insert. The Ergobaby 360 does require you to purchase the insert if you plan on wearing it with an infant. On the other hand, the BabyBjorn doesn't have a hood to protect against sun and light rain.
Baby will need to have some head and neck control which means that they will also need some upper spine strength to stabilize their neck and head. This usually happens around 3-6 months of age but can vary.
All COMPLETE™ carriers are machine washable - just toss it in a cold cycle with a gentle detergent and hang to dry!
It's safe to begin wearing your baby in the back carry position when your baby shows strong neck and head control and can sit independently, which is usually around 6 months. I waited a little longer than 6 months to use the back carry position with my own kids, but that was just due to my comfort level.
LÍLLÉbaby carriers are all machine washable! Do not machine wash frequently. Do not use detergents with bleach, perfumes, dyes, chlorine, or optical brightener. Hang dry, only, in a well-ventilated area.

Another big pro: the Lillebaby offers the option to wear the shoulder straps crossed in an X position across your back, which is an awesome feature (also found in the ErgoBaby Omni and the Beco 8). Additionally, it has nicely padded shoulder straps and a wide, comfortable waist belt.
The Minimonkey TWIN can safely hold newborn babies (without an insert) all the way up to approximately 26 lbs per baby (!!). A few months ago, Minimonkey introduced a new version of their twin carrier called the TWIN – Mesh (the carrier used to be cotton).
Magazines and articles who suggest that baby carriers are an expensive waste of money usually cite reasons such as: They are only used a handful of times as they can make babies clingy, so they are a waste of money. Babies grow out of the carriers in a short space of time, so they are a waste of money.
Too tight means there is a higher risk of suffocation, But when the carrier is too loose your baby can collaps in the carrier, which also gives a higher risk of suffocation. Always remember: There should be two-finger space between your baby's chin and breast to allow proper breathing.
It's just not possible to spoil an infant by holding them too much, says the AAP. 1? Since baby wearing can reduce crying, that means less stress for everyone.
Babies' bodies are perfectly developed to spend their first few months close to their parents; the parent's body is the normal biological habitat for a pre-walking child. If you need your hands back or your arms feel too tired, use a comfy carrier to help keep your baby close.
Keep in mind: When choosing a soft structured carrier, look for one that sits your baby high enough so you can kiss the top of their head. This is the safest position. Also, make sure the carrier has a wide or adjustable seat. It helps distribute the baby's weight and keeps their hips healthy as they grow.
Baby's legs are not properly supported in this position, they just dangling. The child can't bent his hips and knees to maintain more ergonomic position, healthier for developing hip joints. Moreover if the baby's legs are dangling, they may hit wearers legs which also has negative impact on hips.
You can bring a baby carrier with you to the hospital and start using it from day one. Newborn babies prefer to feel the closeness of the parent, therefore, a baby carrier will come in handy. Most baby carriers are made for carrying babies from newborn and up to 2-3 years of age.
But in recent years the brand and its carriers have come under fire from parents, and some paediatricians, for not being safe. The main accusation being that BabyBjörn carriers aren't ergonomic and can cause hip dysplasia.
A baby sling — typically a one-shouldered baby carrier made of soft fabric — can be a safe way to carry a baby, if you follow safety guidelines. But a baby sling can pose a suffocation hazard to an infant, particularly those younger than age 4 months.
Additionally, it's hard to position the legs properly in a forward facing carrier, which can cut off circulation or increase the risk of accelerated hip dysplasia.
