How to Connect Multiple Devices to One Ethernet Port
- Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the computer or Ethernet device.
- Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the "uplink" port on the Ethernet switch. Connect the remaining Ethernet devices to the remaining ports on the switch with Ethernet cables.
If two devices have the same MAC Address (which occurs more often than network administrators would like), neither computer can communicate properly. Duplicate MAC Addresses separated by one or more routers is not a problem since the two devices won't see each other and will use the router to communicate.

The numbers in an IP address are a decimal representation of the binary digits (bits) that make up the IP identification number (address) for a device on a network. Computers are relatively dumb.
