The Galaxy Watch Active only has one 40mm size. The Galaxy Watch Active is quite a bit smaller than both Galaxy Watch devices, offering a 1.1-inch display instead of the 1.2 or 1.3-inch displays. Both the Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Watch Active look good, but the latter is the more comfortable watch to wear.
At $200, the Galaxy Watch Active is a strong value that I'd probably consider before both of those, assuming you can go without the rotating bezel and won't envy other smartwatches and their bigger screens. Using the Galaxy Watch Active might be less fun than Samsung's other watches, but it's still a good time overall.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch is the best smartwatch Samsung has ever made. It's more attractive than previous incarnations, and comes packing some neat new fitness tracking abilities, making for a compelling package. It also has a very good battery life, and Tizen is the best smartwatch operating system out there.
Galaxy Watch Active helps you analyze your sleep patterns and encourages you to wind down to keep you refreshed and at your best. Proactively focus more on yourself with interactive meditation and breathing exercises, powered by Calm. Day or night, Galaxy Watch Active has you covered.
It's that simple! The Galaxy Wearable app and the Music app support MP3, M4A, AAC, OGG, and WMA audio files. Third-party watch apps may support additional file formats.
Google Pay—previously known as Android Pay—works a lot like Apple Pay. Anywhere you see the Google Pay logo or just the contactless payment logo, you can use Google Pay on a phone or smartwatch—in other words, if the outlet supports contactless credit cards, it'll support Google Pay.
These are a few of the compatible banks and services supported by Samsung Pay in the UK:
- American Express.
- Danske Bank.
- Santander.
- MBNA.
- Nationwide.
- HSBC.
- First Direct.
- M&S Bank.
The watch has Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC for mobile payments support, as well as GPS for tracking workouts without a phone. For software, the Active 2 is running the same Tizen-based platform as the rest of Samsung's smartwatches, and it is compatible with both Android and iOS smartphones.
Galaxy Watch Active 2 users will also be able to listen to music on their watches with Spotify. Fitness tracking and blood pressure monitoring was pretty inaccurate, and the watch didn't support MST payments with Samsung Pay.
Google Pay should be the default payment system for most Android devices, though you may need to manually set Google Pay as the default on Samsung phones with Samsung Pay. Open the phone's Settings and open the Apps (or Apps & Notifications) menu. Google Pay will then pop up as the payment system when needed.
Here's how:
- On your watch, open the Google Pay app .
- Scroll to the card you want to use. When you see "Hold to terminal," it's ready to use.
- Hold your watch against the contactless payment terminal until you hear a sound or feel vibration from your watch.
- If you're using a debit card: Choose "credit"
The setup process and the app itself are faster and less annoying than Samsung Pay. Plus, Google Pay works with almost any card in the US. Most of the newly added banks these days are smaller local networks and credit unions, and they just keep on coming.
Samsung Pay will not work without a PIN set as a security measure.
Samsung Pay goes out of its way to safeguard your privacy. It uses several special security methods, like tokenization, to secure your personal and financial information. On top of this, Samsung Knox constantly monitors and protects your phone from malware and other threats. In a nutshell, Samsung Pay is super secure.
There's no limit to how much you can pay in one transaction, but some retailers might only let you use Samsung Pay for payments of up to £30. Samsung and Samsung Pay are trademarks or registered trademarks of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. Samsung Pay is available on selected Samsung devices.
Samsung Pay is accepted in more places than Apple Pay because it doesn't require special NFC-based terminals. It's capable of working with a regular magnetic stripe reader that's otherwise used for swiping debit and credit cards, thanks to special technology Samsung received when it acquired a company named LoopPay.
If your Samsung Pay transaction is declined, check if the message 'Verification Needed' appears on the card in the Samsung Pay app. Your card or the transaction account has insufficient funds for the transaction. You have reached your set daily payment limit. The terminal does not support contactless payments.
Can I use Samsung Pay even without a data connection? Yes - but you will be limited to 10 payments only.
