Breakout rooms allow you to split your Zoom meeting in up to 50 separate sessions. The meeting host can choose to split the participants of the meeting into these separate sessions automatically or manually, or they can allow participants to select and enter breakout sessions as they please.
Participants can have smaller group discussions, completely separated from the main meeting session. Each participant has full video, audio, and screen share capabilities. Anyone with a Zoom account can participate in breakout rooms for free by signing in to their profile and enabling the feature.
If you want to purchase Zoom, you can opt for paying monthly subscription charges of $49, or you can opt for the annual charges of $499. Along with that for Zoom Breakout Rooms, you will pay $41.58 for each room per month basis. You can also go for various add-ons as per your requirement.
Participating in a Breakout RoomAs a participant in a Breakout Room, you have similar capabilities as you would in a regular meeting. This means meeting participants can move freely between Breakout Rooms without the host having to assign them one. Note: Both the meeting host and participants need to be on Zoom 5.3.
How to see everyone on Zoom (mobile app)
- Download the Zoom app for iOS or Android.
- Open the app and start or join a meeting.
- By default, the mobile app displays the Active Speaker View.
- Swipe left from Active Speaker View to display Gallery View.
- You can view up to 4 participants' thumbnails at the same time.
To see the list of participants for a particular meeting, click the number in the "Participants" column (2). Zoom will display the name of each participant, along with the times they joined and left the meeting. If desired, you can export the list of meeting participants as a . csv file for your records.
Show or Hide Participants Panel: Toggle the Manage Participants button in the toolbar at the bottom of the meeting window to show or hide the Participants Panel.
Start or join a Zoom meeting. The meeting automatically begins in Speaker View and you can see your own video. You no longer see the video of yourself, even though others in the meeting can see the video of you.
How to raise your hand in Zoom on an iPhone or Android
- During a meeting on the Zoom mobile app, click on the three horizontal dots icon, labeled "More," in the bottom right corner of the screen.
- In the pop-up at the bottom of your screen, tap "Raise Hand."
Start or join a meeting. If you're using Zoom Rooms for Touch or a Zoom for Home device, tap the ellipses icon () at the bottom-right corner of the screen to display the on-screen controller. Tap Manage Participants. Tap Invite in the bottom-left corner of the participants list.
When you join a Zoom meeting, you will see a screen “Join a Meeting.” and a box with your name in it. You can change your name in the box before joining a meeting so that you maintain anonymity.
There are usually two main reason when a user cannot view the raise hand option in Zoom. When using a mobile phone, Tap on Zoom meetings and the toolbar will appear. Then click on Participants and select Raise Hand. When using a laptop, hover your mouse on the Zoom meeting screen to show the toolbar.
Zoom app downloadsThe desktop app is available for Windows and macOS, while the mobile app is available for Android and iOS. In other words, the desktop app is more fully featured, although, if you're a free user, you can still get a lot of mileage from the mobile app.
The host or co-hosts can broadcast a message to all breakout rooms to share information with all participants. This can be done from the main session or from within a breakout room. Click Breakout Rooms in the meeting controls. Click Broadcast message to all, enter your message, and click Broadcast.
The in-meeting chat allows you to send chat messages to other users within a meeting. You can send a private message to an individual user, or you can send a message to an entire group. Note: Private messages between participants are not viewable by the host.
