Senators are elected to serve four-year terms. Representatives are elected to serve two-year terms. Currently, 40 Senators and 120 members of the House of Representatives serve the people of Florida.
Qualifications. Each legislator shall be at least twenty-one years of age, an elector and resident of the District from which elected and shall have resided in the state for a period of two years prior to election.
Its makeup is different too: two senators represent each state, and senators serve staggered six-year terms.
Members of the House of Representatives serve two-year terms and are considered for reelection every even year. Senators however, serve six-year terms and elections to the Senate are staggered over even years so that only about 1/3 of the Senate is up for reelection during any election.
A bill may be introduced in either the Senate or House of Representatives. A committee studies the bill and often holds public hearings on it. A favorable report moves the bill to the calendar.

What do Florida State senators do?
Marco Rubio(Republican Party)
After winning the majority, a Republican congressman brought a constitutional amendment to the House floor that proposed limiting members of the Senate to two six-year terms and members of the House to six two-year terms.
A senator's job is to represent the people at a higher level than a state representative in the lower house.
Members of the House of Representatives serve two-year terms and are considered for reelection every even year. Senators however, serve six-year terms and elections to the Senate are staggered over even years so that only about 1/3 of the Senate is up for reelection during any election.
Members of both houses must be at least 21 years old, a resident of the district where they have been elected, and must have lived in the state for two years before running for election. Each year the legislature meets in legislative session to determine and debate issues important to the people in our state.
The state is currently represented by Republicans Marco Rubio (serving since 2011) and Rick Scott (serving since 2019).
The governors of the following states and territories are limited to two consecutive terms, but are reeligible after four years out of office: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania,
