It's worth noting that PhoneSoap has not been tested against COVID-19 yet, so there's no evidence to show that it kills the virus itself. However, keeping your phone clean is still a good way to reduce exposure to bacterias that could impact your health and potentially weaken your immune system.
The lightbulbs we use in our products have a lifespan of 4,000 hours - which is 240,000 minutes! That means you can use your PhoneSoap 3 about 24,000 times before the bulbs burn out.
It turns out that UV radiation does a decent job of destroying and damaging DNA. So, the answer is yes, UV phone sanitizers can kill germs. New experiments suggest that UVC can kill COVID-19, and long-term studies prove that the technology can reliably destroy SARS, a strain of coronavirus.
Compared to the PhoneSoap 3, the Pro has twice the UV bulbs to sanitize in 5 minutes and has a larger interior for bulkier accessories. Thanks to wireless charging capabilities, this PhoneSoap can charge your phone without any cables.
The PhoneSoap is definitely capable of killing germs. However, it doesn't kill germs on the sides of the phone very well. The PhoneSoap may kill germs that the hydrogen peroxide and alcohol didn't kill.

The PhoneSoap 3, meanwhile, is an ideal choice if you want a tough, durable unit. It's a bit pricey, but it's built like a brick. It also cleans both sides of your phone in only 10 minutes. The built-in charging dongle is also a great feature, so you can keep your phone juiced up while you're sanitizing.
If you don't have access to Lysol wipes, a Clorox wipe is okay to use — Apple has updated its advice in the last year to say that Clorox-branded disinfecting wipes and other common disinfectants are safe to use on your phone. Or, you can try a mixture of mild soap and water applied to a microfiber cloth.
It was hard to find, but the Phonesoap Troubleshooting page (video, not Q&A) has the issue. Indeed says a red light is a "cracked bulb or other critical error". I looked very carefully, and the 2 top bulbs (on the Pro) are exposed bulbs and not protected by clear plastic like the bottom bulbs.
The easiest option is to take the techy route. UV light sanitizers—such as PhoneSoap—clean phones without damaging them, killing 99.9 percent of bacteria on the surfaces; they can do the same thing for your credit card or debit card.
