Windows XP Mode is a feature of the Windows 7 operating system that allows it to run applications that are only compatible with Windows XP. Windows XP Mode consists of a full copy of the Windows XP operating system that runs as a virtual machine (VM) on Windows Virtual PC, a Type 2 client hypervisor.
Windows 10 does not include a Windows XP mode, but you can still use a virtual machine to do it yourself. Install that copy of Windows in the VM and you can run software on that older version of Windows in a window on your Windows 10 desktop.

You can go from 32-bit XP to 64-bit Windows 7 by doing a custom (clean) install using an upgrade version disk. You don't need to buy a full version disk. But you can't do it by booting from the upgrade disk. If XP is installed, turn on the computer, insert the upgrade DVD after XP starts, and follow the prompts.

- Boot from your E2B drive, press Ctrl-I for the Windows Install menu and then Alt+1 for Step 1.
- Choose from the list of XP ISOs.
- You will see some instructions about pressing F6 - on some systems pressing F6 during Windows XP Setup is not necessary.
