If the Chinese water dragon is scared or feels threatened, it may bite or whip its tail. They are pretty active in their environment and like to climb on rocks, up trees, on branches, or in plants. They are also good swimmers and are happy when there is water in their enclosure as well.

However, this is not always easy. Only a few Chinese water dragon owners find it easy to feed their pets fruits and vegetables as most water dragons simply won't eat fruits and vegetables.
Water dragons utilize tail autotomy, a defense mechanism that utilizes tail loss. Therefore the tail can fall off when grasped sometimes when very little pressure applied. The tail will regrow as a cartilaginous rod.

Cedar has long been used in closets because it's naturally resistant to insects and decay. Unfortunately, cedar is one of the most dangerous woods for reptiles and should not be used in their care at all.
You can use almost anything that is not toxic. Make sure not to choose any branches that are toxic to your bearded dragon, for example conifers – pine trees, cedar, yew, juniper, cypress, spruce, redwood and others. To be safe, choose the branches that are considered safe for your bearded dragon.
Large, flat rocks can also make a great perching area for your bearded dragon. Rocks can be found at many pet shops, garden stores, or home improvement stores. Take caution with large heavy rocks that can easily crack tank bottoms. Be careful when placing them in the bearded dragon enclosure.

Re: Plywood Reptile EnclosurePlywood is great. Easier to work with than melamine, and more durable. Be sure to use a hardwood plywood, like oak, maple, or birch. Pine, fir, cedar, etc fumes are toxic to beardies.
Knowing the sex of your water dragon is important if you want to keep more than one in the same enclosure. Two mature males will fight, and these fights can often result in serious injury or even death. Two female dragons usually get along but they, too, can become territorial.

The substrate used in the green water dragon habitat should be one that will encourage the high humidity levels that these lizards prefer.
