In September 2007, UKTV announced that they would relaunch and rename UKTV G2 as Dave on 15 October. UKTV said the name of the channel was chosen because "everyone knows a bloke called Dave". The concept and branding was the work of Red Bee Media.
Discovery will receive an additional £10m from UKTV. The BBC will take full ownership of Alibi, Dave, Drama, Eden, Gold, Yesterday and W, as well as UKTV Play and the UKTV brand.

Dave is an American comedy television series that premiered on FXX on March 4, 2020, co-created by rapper/comedian Lil Dicky, who plays the titular character, and Jeff Schaffer. The first season was released in the UK on BBC Two and in full on the BBC iPlayer on May 10, 2020.

Dave was born David Orobosa Omoregie on 5 June 1998 in the Brixton area of South London, the youngest of three sons born to Nigerian parents. His father is a pastor and his mother a nurse.
