Zelle lets you send or receive money from one person's bank account to another individual's bank account almost instantaneously. Both parties have to be enrolled in Zelle – but they don't have to use the same bank.
Cancel a Zelle Payment if You Sent Money to the Wrong PersonYou can cancel the payment either with the Zelle app or through your mobile banking app.
You can send money to almost anyone1 you know and trust with a bank account in the U.S. When using Zelle, at least one side of the transaction (sender or receiver) must have access to Zelle through their bank or credit union.
If the person you're sending money to hasn't enrolled yet, they'll receive an email or text notification letting them know you've sent them money. Once they've enrolled their profile, they'll receive the money directly into the bank account they have associated with their profile.
"A year ago, for you to fall for a Zelle scam, you had to be a Zelle user," he said. "But this new scam, you've never heard of Zelle — you can still be a victim." Fortunately for consumers, federal regulations require banks to fully reimburse any customer whose money is fraudulently stolen from an account.
Zelle transfers are typically instant. You can make an instant transfer on Circle by using a debit card. Transferring funds between a bank account and Circle takes one to four business days.
The short answer is that you can't make a Zelle account without a bank. In essence, Zelle is a service used by bank customers to transfer their money between accounts in the USA. It's supported by banks, but there are ways to use the Zelle app without having a bank account.
If your bank or credit union does not yet offer Zelle, your weekly send limit is $500. Please note that you cannot request to increase or decrease your send limit.
Once your recipient registers either a U.S. mobile phone number or email address with Zelle, payments are typically delivered within minutes. However, some payments can take up to 1 business day depending on who you're sending money to and how much you're sending.
Money sent with Zelle is typically available to an enrolled person within minutes1. If you send money to someone who isn't enrolled with Zelle, they will receive a notification prompting them to enroll. After enrollment, it may take between 1 and 3 business days for your recipient to receive their first payment.
The app will also offer a higher limit on how much users can transfer on its app, though this amount will vary between users based on their banking history. For my Bank of America account, Zelle offers a limit of $2,500 a day. The Zelle app will be available on September 12th on iOS and Android.
There's no fee to send or receive money with Zelle using our Mobile Banking app or Online Banking. Neither Bank of America nor Zelle offers a protection program for any authorized payments using Zelle.
If the payment status is completed, then the money is already available in the recipient's bank account. If you aren't sure of the status of your payment, contact Zelle customer support at 844-428-8542.
You can send, request, or receive money with Zelle. To get started, log into your First Tech mobile banking app and select “Send Money with Zelle®”. First Tech does not charge any fees to use Zelle. Your recipient will not be charged a fee to receive money with Zelle.
If you are sending a payment and an error occurred:There may be an issue with the email address or mobile number they have enrolled with Zelle. You may verify with the Recipient they have fully enrolled with the email address or mobile number you are trying to send money, and have opted into receive notification.
Simply download the Zelle app in the App Store or Google Play and enroll an eligible Visa® or Mastercard® debit card. Important: While you can typically use Zelle with people at different banks, at least one person must have a bank in the Zelle Network in order to send and receive money.

Zelle® is a fast, safe and easy way to send and receive money with friends, family and others you trust - no matter where they bank1. It's important that you know and trust those you send money to. Because once you authorize a payment to be sent, you can't cancel it if the recipient is already enrolled in Zelle.
You can send, receive, or request2 money with Zelle. To get started, make sure you are enrolled in United Bank's mobile banking app, Bank with United in the Apple App Store or Google Play. If you're already enrolled, select the “+” symbol, then select “Zelle” to get started.
Zelle, being a bank-backed app, clearly has the competitive advantage here. The app is embedded into the already existing mobile banking apps of participating banks (i.e. Bank of America, Chase, and Capital One). However, while Zelle may appear more secure, applications like Venmo and PayPal are just as secure.
Zelle allows users to send money to recipients at any other bank. If your bank is already one of Zelle's partners, you can access it directly through your bank's app, with no need for additional accounts or more apps.
