Verify the firmware on the 3rd Gen is up-to-date. If it is then you may need to restart or reset the Apple TV. If all else fails, please contact Netflix for support. Netflix works perfectly on all 3 of my 3rd Generation Apple TVs.
Reset or restore your Apple TV (3rd generation) or earlier
- Select Settings > General > Reset.
- Choose one of these options: Reset All Settings: This option resets your settings, including your accounts and configurations.
- Keep your Apple TV plugged into power until the Reset process finishes.
- Check that Bluetooth is On & Discoverable;
- Keep Bluetooth preferences window open during pairing;
- Connect Apple TV to your Mac via USB cable and reset it in iTunes app;
- Turn Apple TV on and wait until it finds your Mac.
- Tap "Pair";
- You will see CiderTV control interface with buttons.
The App Store isn't available on Apple TV (3rd generation). To get new apps that you can use on your Apple TV (3rd generation), update your software. If you're not sure which Apple TV model you have, learn how to identify your Apple TV model.
Connecting Your Apple TV to Your WiFi Network
- Go to your device's network settings. On 4th Generation Apple TV, go to the Settings menu and choose Network. On 2nd or 3rd Generation Apple TV, go to the Settings menu and choose General, then Network.
- Select Configure Wireless.
- Select your wireless network from the list.
Try connecting your Apple TV directly to your router, or cable or DSL modem using an Ethernet cable. Or on Apple TV (3rd generation), go to Settings > General > Update Software. If there's an update, install it. Then unplug your Ethernet cable and try to join your Wi-Fi network again.
To connect your TV to WiFi without a remote, connect a USB keyboard and mouse to the TV and use the mouse to go to the TV's WiFi settings to connect to your WiFi network.
You can turn on an Apple TV without a remote simply by plugging it in — once it's plugged in, it will turn on automatically. If your Apple TV is in Sleep Mode, try unplugging it and plugging it back in to wake it.
Unlock your iOS 7 device and ensure that Bluetooth is enabled. Also ensure that you are connected to the Wi-Fi network you want to use with Apple TV. Touch your iOS device to your Apple TV and wait for the prompts to appear on your iOS device and Apple TV. Enter your Apple ID and password on your iOS device.
Siri Remote or Apple TV Remote*
- Point your remote three inches away from your Apple TV.
- Press and hold Menu or Back and Volume Up for five seconds.
- If asked, place your remote on top of Apple TV to complete pairing.
If you don't see the Apple TV Remote icon in Control Center on your iOS or iPadOS device, you can add it manually. On the iOS or iPadOS device, go to Settings > Control Center, then tap Customize Controls. next to Apple TV Remote in the More Controls list to add it to Control Center.
Mirror your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to a TV
- Connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV.
- Open Control Center:
- Tap Screen Mirroring .
- Select your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV from the list.
How to Watch YouTube on a Third-Generation Apple TV
- Make sure your ‌iPhone‌ or ‌iPad‌ is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your ‌Apple TV‌.
- Launch the YouTube app on your iOS device and find the video that you want to stream.
- Tap the video to reveal the interface overlay, then tap the TV streaming icon.

Next, you will need to go to the Apple TV and download the app itself.
- Open the App Store on your Apple TV.
- Search for Disney+
- Download.
- Once downloaded, enter your previously created login information.
The Apple TV (3rd generation) doesn't have an app store, but Amazon Prime Video comes pre-installed on its latest operating system. Turn on your Apple TV and go to the main menu. Select the App Store icon on the screen. Search for Amazon Prime Video in the tvOS App Store.
