- Select Settings.
- From the My picture section, click Select a picture.
- Upload a new photo from your computer, or select a photo from Picasa Web Albums or your previous Google profile photos.
- Click Apply Changes.
- Visible to everyone means anyone who you email, or who emails you, can see your picture.
Overall Google Photos is fairly secure. It doesn't automatically post your photos for everyone to see. People won't be able to google for them. The pictures that you upload are only viewable by you — unless, of course, you share them with other people.
The current profile photo and the old ones could be seen on a "system" album called "Profile photos" which could be found in the Photos tab of Google+ Classic and on "Archived photos" section on Google About me. To delete a profile photo, Go to Profile photos album. It will shows thumbnails of the profile photos.
This is how you can recover deleted photos from your iPhone or Android phone
- Step 1: Access your Photos App and go into your albums.
- Step 2: Scroll to the bottom and tap on "Recently Deleted."
- Step 3: In that photo folder you will find all the photos you have deleted within the last 30 days.
If you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it's there.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
- At the top left, tap Menu Trash .
- Touch and hold the photo or video you want to restore.
- At the bottom, tap Restore. The photo or video will be back: In your phone's gallery app.
To remove these images from search results, follow these steps:
- Search on images.google.com for the image you want to find.
- Select the image link by right clicking on the image thumbnail and choosing Copy link address.
- Go to the Remove outdated content page.
- In the box next to "Request removal," paste the URL.
In Google Photos in your browser, click the circle at the top left of the first photo you want to delete. If there's a batch in sequence you want to delete, hold down shift, and click the circle at the top left of the last photo in the sequence, and all photos should be highlighted. Then just hit the delete button.
To delete a profile photo,
- Go to Profile photos album. It will shows thumbnails of the profile photos.
- Click on the photo, a bigger version will be shown.
- Click on the More options button (it's on the top right corner) and then Delete photo.
If you delete photos or videos from Google Drive or Google Photos, they won't be automatically removed from the other service. Google says, “this change is designed to help prevent accidental deletion of items across products.”
How? If you want all your photos in Drive gone, it's safe to delete the Google Photos folder from Drive. Deleting entire folders (the whole Google Photos folder or the year/month subfolders if you have those) won't delete the photos from Google Photos but deleting the individual files will.

- In a browser go to photos.google.com.
- Select Photos from the left side menu.
- Hover over your first photo and then click the checkmark that appears to select it.
- Grab the scroll bar on the right and go all the way down to your last photo.
- Holding down the Shift key select the last photo in the bottom right.

Google has now officially uncoupled Google Photos from Google Drive, and the two Google storage services no longer automatically keep their photos in sync. That means photos you've uploaded to one service, and any changes you make to them, no longer reliably show up in the other place.
If you delete synced photos from the Google Photos app, it will be deleted from everywhere – your device, the Google Photos app, the Google Photos website, and your file manager app. This will happen even if your Backup & Sync feature is on and whether you're using an Android or iPhone.
Unlimited video storage at Google Photos has a new catch. You can store unlimited video files in a compressed format for free using Google Photos. However, certain video file formats will now count towards your Google Drive quota, rather than be free and unlimited.
Using the Free Up Space feature in the Google Photos app will only remove pictures from your phone if they've already been successfully backed up and uploaded to the cloud. All other pictures will remain untouched on your device. Nothing will be deleted from your Google Photos library.
This includes photos and videos from Google+ in your Album Archive. Note that photos and videos backed up in Google Photos will not be deleted. To be certain you're saving all photos and videos from Google+ we encourage you to download your content prior to April 2019.
To permanently delete an item from your device:
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
- Sign in to your Google Account.
- Select the items you want to delete from your Android phone or tablet.
- In the top right, tap More Delete from device.
Once you're satisfied that your iOS device's photos have been uploaded to your Google Photos account, you're ready to delete them from your phone or tablet. You can either do this piecemeal through Apple's Photos app, or you can use a built-in Google Photos tool to do so all at once.
Whenever you use the Free Up Space option in Google Photos, all photos and videos that are already safely backed up to the cloud will be removed from local storage. In other words, Google Photos will delete the originals.
If you use the Google Photos app as a gallery app to view your photos and you didn't enable the Back up and sync setting, then uninstalling it will not have any effect. That is, no photo will be deleted from your phone both on Android and iPhone after removing the app.
Often, many of us misinterpret that they are all backed up because the photos/videos show up in Google Photos and we over see the icons on each photo/video. If the photos/videos weren't backed up they cannot be deleted from the Google Photos library nor Trash.
Photos on Google Photos are private by default unless you share them or tag people in your photo. You can see the photos you have shared with others by clicking on the Albums icon in the left hand column for desktop. You can also click the hamburger settings icon in the search box to see shared photos.
Free up space on your Android device

NO place is entirely safe, and Google Photos is no exception. Many lost their photos by own mistakes, accounts may get hacked. A good backup is the best safety. Then you can make a backup from the laptop to other media like external hard disk, thumb drive, or to another cloud service.
Google Photos is accessible everywhere — mobile, desktop and web. It is available on Android, iOS, and has a web version. While you can download third-party gallery apps on other Android devices, these apps seldom provide a backup option. The gallery apps from phone manufacturers are limited to their own handsets only.
You can totally do it for free on your iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. However, if you delete the photos in the Camera Roll, the same photos that you have copied to the album will also be deleted. And more importantly, it enables you to delete the photos in the Camera Roll with no effect on those in an album.
3 Answers. As detailed in Apple's support article, you can disable iCloud Photo Library on your iOS device by tapping Settings > iCloud, and turning off "Photos". Your photos will still remain in iCloud Photo Library but will be removed from your device.
If the device photos all have backup copies in Google Photos, it is now safe to delete the device copy from your phone.
