Click the "Advanced" menu option at the top of the iTunes application, and then click "Get Album Artwork." This feature scans through your iTunes library and automatically downloads and inserts album art into songs that don't already have it. When the process is complete, move on.
The first thing you can try to resolve your issue is to right-click on an album in iTunes that's missing artwork and choosing Get Album Artwork. In the popup menu, confirm by selecting Get Album Artwork. Repeat manually for every album in your collection that is missing artwork.
Right click on that album and go to songs, find the songs from that album, use the toggle arrow at the bottom to scroll thru all the songs on that album. Then hit apply again. I also hit sync after that and IT FIXED ALL THE ALBUM ART FOR ALL MY ALBUMS!
Downloaded artwork is downloaded by iTunes from the iTunes Store and is stored in separate files. (the files are actually stored in the "Album Artwork" folder located in the same folder as your iTunes library file).

If you have perhaps more than a few songs you need album artwork for, you can also attempt to get it all at once. Go up to the File menu in iTunes, hover over Library, then select Get Album Artwork. Unlike the last method, this will get the album artwork for all of the songs that don't have it in your library.
"When the iCloud Music Library is enabled this will sync the album artwork from iTunes." "The iCloud Music library places your music into iCloud which does update the album artwork to what appears in the iTunes store."
Deleting the Cache folder may resolve issues involving incorrectly displayed album art. Another method that sometimes resolves album artwork problems is to delete the iTunes Album Artwork Cache folder. Go to Music > iTunes > Album Artwork. Delete the Cache folder, quit iTunes, and then relaunch it.
