A simple line graph is a kind of graph that is plotted with only a single line. Like in the diagram above, it shows the relationship between two variables. In most cases, one of these variables is independent, while the other is a dependent variable.
Single: Single bar graphs are used to convey the discrete value of the item for each category shown on the opposing axis. Grouped: A grouped or clustered bar graph is used to represent discrete values for more than one item that share the same category.
How to Make a Graph in Excel
- Enter your data into Excel.
- Choose one of nine graph and chart options to make.
- Highlight your data and 'Insert' your desired graph.
- Switch the data on each axis, if necessary.
- Adjust your data's layout and colors.
- Change the size of your chart's legend and axis labels.
Follow these simple steps:
- First, find the value for x on the x-axis.
- Next, find the y-value - in this case, y=1100, so find 1100 on the y-axis.
- Your point should be plotted at the intersection of x=0 and y=1100.
- Finally, plot the point on your graph at the appropriate spot.

A line graph shows how a value changes, usually over time. Most line graphs look like a jagged line going across the page. How high the line is above a time marked on the axis tells you how high the value is. A dieter may use a line graph to track how their weight fluctuates as time goes by.
Right click on the Max point, and choose Data Labels. Select the label and choose the Series Name option, so it shows “Max”, and choose the bright blue text color. Format the marker so it's an 8-point circle with a 1.5-pt matching blue border and no fill.
