Google declined to support that portfolio feature in the middle of November. That is why Google finance is not proceeding anymore. No other reason has been found for the shut down of Google finance. FMPCloud API is a realtime API and provides you historical stock data for all of the past events (major or minor).
It was launched in 2007, just one year behind Google Finance. It's available for Android and iOS mobile devices, as well as the web version.
Google Finance is one of the best places to get a large volume of stock quotes and financial news as you explore your various investment options before investing your money. In addition to having a ton of outstanding information on thousands of companies, Google Finance also has an excellent Portfolio tool.
Use the GOOGLEFINANCE function
- In Sheets, open a spreadsheet.
- In an empty cell, type =GOOGLEFINANCE.
- In parenthesis, add any of the following, separated by a comma: A ticker symbol in quotation marks. (Optional) The attribute you want to show, such as price, in quotation marks.
- Press Enter.
Data is provided by financial exchanges and other content providers and may be delayed as specified by financial exchanges or other data providers. Google does not verify any data and disclaims any obligation to do so.
The new Google Finance features bold colors across the platform. This is to make different stocks stand out from each other. Previously, stocks on the platform looked a bit like a list of search results.
Why GOOGLEFINANCE function may not workThere is no guarantee that too many GOOGLEFINANCE formulas won't return an #N/A error at some point. Another reason for the #N/A error is the attempt to retrieve historical data from Google Finance via the Sheets API or Apps Script.
You can add an icon to your home screen that takes you directly to Google Finance. While in Safari at the Google Finance page, tap the icon at the bottom center of the screen that looks like an arrow emerging from a rectangle. Tap "Add to Home Screen." A Google Finance Web clip is created on your home screen.
To reiterate, the Google Finance API is no longer supported by Google so it's undocumented and unreliable.
Google Finance no longer offers a stock screener. This implementation is still possible with several of the best free stock screeners. All the data is available to create a Tiny Titans screen in the Google Finance Stock Screener. Keep in mind that Google offers this online as a free stock screener.
Google is far ahead of Yahoo with its ecosystem which provides various services like mail, news, business services, etc. But when it comes to finance and money, the scene is reversed.
