The google analytics feature, cross-device tracking helps identify the user behavior across several devices and the way any specific activity is being done. The report that shows cross device tracking is known as 'cross device reports'.
First enable
User-

Set up User-ID in your account
- Sign in to Google Analytics.
- Click Admin, and navigate to the property in which you want to implement User-ID.
- In the PROPERTY column, click Tracking Info > User-ID.
- Follow the steps outlined in the next sections.
Reporting identityIf neither User-ID nor Google-signals information is available, then Analytics uses a device ID, either the Analytics cookie for websites or the app Instance ID for apps, to identify a user. When you activate Google signals, Analytics collects demographics and interests data when it is available.
The main difference between a goal and an event in Google Analytics is that goals are tied to actions that affect website revenue, while events track website behavior that does not have to do with reaching a specific page on your site.
Currently, Google Analytics for web exposes a device category field, the discrete values for which are mobile, tablet, and desktop. The interface also allows you to dig deeper into the specific device it is.

- Select Include or Exclude depending on whether you want the condition to include or exclude the data you define.

In October of 2017, Google updated the analytics tracking code from analytics. js to gtag.
You can start from any of these reports to build a picture of your high-value customers. In this example, the Age report shows that 18-24 and 25-34-year-olds together make up the majority of users, but the 25-34 segment contributes the most revenue and has the highest conversion rate.
Activate Google signals
- Sign in to Google Analytics..
- Click Admin, and navigate to the property in which you want to activate Google signals.
- In the PROPERTY column, click Tracking Info, then Data Collection.
- Click GET STARTED in the blue notification banner at the top of the page, and follow the prompt in the blue dialog.

How is Google Analytics able to determine if a group of website interactions are all from the same user device? Rather than using the random numbers that the tracking code creates, you can override the unique ID with your own number. Every metric may be combined with every dimension in Google Analytics.
When you enable Advertising Features, you have the additional options of isolating data by age, gender, and interest so you can uncover more detailed information about your audience.
By default, analytics. js uses a single, first-party cookie named _ga to store the Client ID, but the cookie's name, domain, and expiration time can all be customized. Other cookies created by analytics. js include _gid , AMP_TOKEN and _gac_<property-id> .
Sessions are incremented with the first hit of a session, whereas entrances are incremented with the first pageview hit of a session. If the first hit of the session is not a pageview, you may see a difference between the number of session and the number of entrances.
For example, it's impossible to see how many people reached a certain landing page, through a certain marketing channel, and on which platform. So you can't know how many users converted on your home page and got there through a Facebook ad while using a mobile device.

The idea is to get a much better and more robust understanding of your audience across every device or platform they use and interact with. In turn, this provides a much clearer and more accurate representation of that audience.
The solution: Use a conversion pixel to track customer interactions from click to purchase. Facebook is the only platform that'll track conversions across multiple devices and tell you on which one people converted. In addition, your ads will be automatically optimized to show up to those most likely to buy.

Google Analytics User ID is a unique set of alphanumeric characters (like GdffTeeD453589) assigned to a user so that he/she can be identified across devices/ browsers and over the course of multiple sessions. Google Analytics cannot generate unique IDs for you that can be used as User IDs.
Analytics is designed to protect your information and enable you to choose what you share. You can review this information on your iOS device by going to Settings > Privacy > Analytics & Improvements and looking under Analytics Data.
People use phones, tablets, their computers and desktop. Cross device is a capability for identifying multiple devices and attach it to the same user. It's people identity. And cross-device attribution is basically attributing a conversion across multiple devices, and that's what we mean by cross-device attribution.

Google Signals is a new Google Analytics Cross Device Report, similar to the User-ID report. In this case however Google Analytics tracks sessions and device type for all the users that signed into their Google accounts and converted.
