Click the V button your Vizio TV remote control to get to the apps home menu. Click on one of the options on the top the screen that takes you to the App Store options (Featured, Latest, All Apps, or Categories). Next, highlight the app(s) you want to add that is not already on your list.
Method 2: Use Apps on Vizio TVs using Screencast
- Open up the app that you would like to cast. For example, if it's the YouTube app, open it and tap on the Connect to device icon.
- It will now search for wireless displays on the same network, once your TV shows up, select it and you can now screencast to your Vizio TV.
When Vizio Smartcast is starting up, it should take a few seconds to load content. But if it takes longer than a minute or two, then this means there is a problem that needs fixing. So, what could be the problem?
Screen MirroringIt will simply just mirror what is on your phone. To do this, you will need to download the Vizio app called SmartCast Mobile. This app will help you connect to your Vizio smart TV and begin to mirror your phone onto it.
Check to make sure both devices (the TV and the Phone/Tablet/PC or other cast device) are on the same network. Your phone or tablet may be connected to your cellular data network. For cast to work, both devices have to be on your home Wi Fi.
Can I use my SmartCast Home Theater Display or SmartCast HDTV without the Internet? You can use the SmartCast Home Theater Display to watch content from a set top box, Blu-ray player, or other HDMI compatible device; however, the functionality and features will be limited if you do not have internet access.
Cast content from your device to your TV
- Connect your device to the same Wi-Fi network as your Android TV.
- Open the app that has the content you want to cast.
- In the app, find and select Cast .
- On your device, select the name of your TV .
- When Cast. changes color, you're successfully connected.
If Smart View is not working, restarting or rebooting your device will usually solve the issue. Keep in mind that DRM-protected contents cannot be mirrored.
To access applications on your SmartCast TV, press the input button and choose the 'SmartCast' input. Or press the V key or Home key near the center of your remote. Currently all available applications are displayed in the app row of SmartCast Home.
How Are Apps Installed on a VIZIO Smart TV?
- Press the V button twice on the remote.
- In the Fullscreen VIA Plus Apps Window you will see your installed apps under the My Apps tab.
- Browse through the Featured, Latest, All Apps or Categories tabs to find the app you want to install.
If your connection speed is slow then you can get stuck on the loading screen of watchfree. If the internet connection is slow then move your router closer to the vizio tv. You can also try using an ethernet connection for faster speed. If that doesn't help then try unplugging your router for 10-15 minutes.
SmartCast Is Not Available / SmartCast Input Not Loading / OK Button Not Working on SmartCast Home
- To Factory Reset your TV, press the Menu button on your VIZIO TV remote.
- Highlight and select the Reset & Admin option.
- Highlight and select the Reset to Factory Settings option.
- Highlight and select the Reset option.
Unplug the power cord from the outlet or the wall (whichever is more accessible). Hold the power button on the side of the TV down for 3-5 seconds. Plug the TV's power cord back in, and power on the TV.

When loading your Vizio TV, you will see the message Smartcast is starting up. One reason is when your Vizio Smartcast TV has memory issues. Or, your Internet connection may be weak or unstable.
