When and how to use the modem's RESET button
- Unplug the power cord from the back of the modem. Check to make sure all the lights on the modem are OFF.
- Wait one full minute. Plug the power cord back into the modem.
- Wait for the internet light or main status light to turn green.
- Now try connecting to the internet again.
Common causes of intermittent slow-downs include peak usage times, weather, a weak WiFi signal, virus or malware problems, and issues with your modem/router or computer.
Reset the modemRestarting or rebooting the modem is another easy fix and may help boost internet speed. Simply turning your modem off and back on can force it to reset and improve slow connections. If your internet is slower than usual, it's always worth a try to reboot the modem before doing anything else.
So 940Mbit/s is as fast as it gets on a 1Gbit/s optical fiber connection.
Internet LightOnce the modem is connected to a power source and the CenturyLink network, it will attempt to connect to the internet. If it does, the internet light should turn solid green. If the light is flickering red and green, your modem can't communicate with the internet.
Rebooting Your Router
- Unplug the power cord from the modem.
- Make sure that all the lights on the modem are off.
- Wait for at least a minute, then plug the power cord back again into the modem.
- Wait for the light indicators to turn green.
- Try reconnecting to the internet.
There are a lot of possible reasons for why your internet isn't working. Your router or modem may be out of date, your DNS cache or IP address may be experiencing a glitch, or your internet service provider could be experiencing outages in your area. The problem could be as simple as a faulty Ethernet cable.
Troubleshooting tip: If the light blinks blue for more than 5 minutes, check to make sure the green DSL cord is firmly plugged in to both the modem and the wall jack. If it blinks blue again for more than 5 minutes, service is not connected to that jack. Please try another jack or chat with us for further help.
