VNC Connect is built from the ground up with security and privacy in mind. And it's best practice not to share a password you use for VNC Connect with any other online system or service. We strongly recommend setting up multi-factor authentication, both for your RealVNC account and your remote computers.
VNC allows you to remotely access a computer and use its desktop, either over the Internet or from another room in your house. Windows includes a Remote Desktop feature, but it's only available in Professional editions of Windows.

Check the remote computer is switched on. The remote computer's antivirus software or firewall is blocking your connection attempt. On the remote computer, ensure antivirus software lists VNC Server as an exception, and the firewall is configured to allow access on VNC Server's listening port (5900 by default).
Start UltraVNC viewer. Enter the network IP address for the server computer in the "VNC Server" textbox. TightVNC runs basically on any version of Windows (both 32-bit and 64-bit systems are supported): Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8 / 8.1 / 10, corresponding versions of Windows Server.
The procedure to install and configure VNC server on Ubuntu Linux is as follows:
- Login to remote Ubuntu server using ssh command.
- Install the desktop environment such as Gnome or XFCE4 using apt command.
- Install and configure the TigerVNC server.
- Connect to VNC server from your desktop using SSH and vnc client.
On the device you want to control from
- Download VNC Viewer.

The VNC client (or viewer) is the program that represents the screen data originating from the server, receives updates from it, and presumably controls it by informing the server of collected local input.
However, VNC over the internet is incredibly slow. Even at 256 colors and lower, with Aero turned off, it is unbearably slow.
