Maple Leaves can be obtained by catching them while they float in the air using a net. Several leaves will float around your island during a day, so if you're patient you can farm them quite consistently.
As you explore your island during maple leaf season, you'll be able to catch the leaves fall, but, every so often, you'll notice a large, brown, leaf floating through the air - this is a maple leaf. Once you've found a maple leaf, pull out your net and catch it just like you would a bug.
