While stucco is a very durable surface, it will need to be repainted periodically – but not often. Proper application using high-quality paint can help your stucco last over 20 years without peeling or blistering, but its longevity also depends on environmental factors.
Tan is a traditional color that works well on stucco. My recommendation is to go a bit lighter rather than darker when selecting a nice neutral tan. A color like PPG Pittsburgh Paints FLLW840 Wright Grey Tan would be a good choice. White is color for stucco.

To make whitewash, mix white Portland cement (available at most lumberyards) and water in a pail to the consistency of pancake batter. Wet the stucco with a garden hose and apply the whitewash with a masonry brush or whisk broom.
