To divide multiple cells successively, type cellreferences separated by the division symbol. For example, todivide the number in A2 by the number in B2, and thendivide the result by the number in C2, use this formula:=A2/B2/C2.
How to Work with Formulas in Numbers Spreadsheets
- Select the cell that will hold the result of yourcalculation.
- Click inside the Formula Box and type = (the equal sign).
- Click the Function Browser button, which bears the fxlabel.

To increase a number by apercentage amount, multiply the original amount by 1+ thepercent of increase. In the example shown, Product Ais getting a 10 percent increase. So you first add 1to the 10 percent, which gives you 110 percent. Youthen multiply the original price of 100 by 110percent.
Excel calculates formulas based on the following order ofoperations:
- Operations enclosed in parentheses.

- Divide by 1 - Anytime you divide by 1, the answer is the sameas the dividend.
