Find a specific file or folder
- Focus the scope of your search: Below the search field, tap Recents or the name of the location or tag.
- Hide the keyboard and see more results on the screen: Tap Search.
- Start a new search: Tap in the search field.
- Open a result: Tap it.
You can find and replace words in a document, spreadsheet, or presentation with Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. You can also search within a file using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + f (? + f on a Mac).
Swipe to search
- Swipe down from the middle of the Home screen.
- Tap the Search field, then enter what you're looking for. As you type, Search updates results in real time.
- To see more results, tap Show More or search directly in an app by tapping Search in App.
- Tap a search result to open it.
Control+F, or Command+F on a Mac, is the keyboard shortcut for the Find command. If you're in a web browser and want to search text on a web page, pressing Control+F will bring up a search box. Just type in that search box and it'll locate the text you're typing on the page.
Navigate to the file manager on your Android device and find a PDF file. Any apps that can open PDFs will appear as choices. Simply select one of the apps and the PDF will open.
Open iBooks is the simplest way to search for PDFs and text in PDFs on iPhone. iBooks can help in finding any text that you need. iBooks has also the capacity to search for any PDF from any section. Open the PDF file that you wish to search by tapping on the file.
On an Android phone or tablet running a recent version of Google's Chrome browser, tap the menu icon in the upper-right corner of the window; the menu looks like three dots stacked up. When the menu opens, select “Find in Page” option and type in your search words with the keyboard.
Tip: You can also use the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl + f (Windows, Linux, and Chrome OS) or ? + f (Mac) to quickly find a word or phrase.
Tap the icon for whichever web browser you use on your iPhone or Android device to open it. Navigate to the webpage you want to search. Use the address bar at the top of the web browser to enter the web address for the website you want to search. You can also Google to search for the exact webpage you want to search.

- Tap. , then tap Find on Page.
- Enter the word or phrase in the search field.
- Tap. to find other instances.
Search a webpage
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Chrome app .
- On the webpage, tap More Find in Page .
- At the top left, enter what you want to search for. Matching words will be highlighted in yellow and orange.
- When you find what you were searching for, tap Done.
Apple Inc. Safari is a WebKit-based partially open source graphical web browser developed by Apple. It first appeared as part of Mac OS X Panther on the Mac in 2003; later, a mobile version was introduced as part of iPhone OS 1 on the iPhone and iPod touch in 2007.
If you want to look for certain words on a web page, it's possible to search for them while using Safari. Type the word in the address bar, then at the bottom of the list, the On This Page section. Tap Find “word” to find its first instance on the page.
To open the Find pane from the Edit View, press Ctrl+F, or click Home > Find. Find text by typing it in the Search the document for… box. Word Web App starts searching as soon as you start typing.
Tap on the menu button, go to "find in page" and type your search string. Searching for a word or phrase on computers or laptops is quite easy because you can do it just by pressing the “Ctrl” and “F” button, but when turning to Android phones, it's kind of tricky.
First, open the Messages app. If you are in a Conversation view, press the back arrow until you are on the main “Messages” screen. Tap on the Search bar near the top of the screen, then type what you'd like to search for. The screen will change into a list of top Conversations that match your search.
If you have a keyboard connected to your iPhone or iPad, you can use a quick keyboard shortcut to search within a web page. Press Command+F and a search bar will appear across the bottom of the screen. Once you see the search bar, click in the text input field and type in a word or phrase.
Ctrl-F is the shortcut in your browser or operating system that allows you to find words or phrases quickly. You can use it browsing a website, in a Word or Google document, even in a PDF. You can also select Find under the Edit menu of your browser or app.
Try using the search bar in the upper right corner of your Finder. Type in "chat transcript" and whatever the contact's name is in your phone. The results should show messages saved by date for that person! if you know the message you are looking for, you can look it up in spotlight.
If you think that Search is not finding items, meaning it is not working correctly, try these steps: Go to Settings > General > Spotlight Search. Turn off (deactivate) everything (search results) Now turn off your device by pressing and holding the on/off button until you see the slider.
