Preheat the oven to 190°C, gas mark 5. Placethe sausages on a baking tray and cook for20-25 minutes, until thoroughly cooked, turning halfway through thecooking time.Individual types of sausages may haveslightly different cooking times check the packet forspecific instructions.
Put a non-stick pan over a medium heat then add thesausages. A little of the fat from the sausages willstart to come out as they warm up, turn the sausages in thehot fat to coat them. Keep cooking for 15-20 mins, movingthem around in the pan and turning them over regularly so they allcook evenly.
Insert an instant-read thermometer into the center ofthe thickest sausage, making sure not to poke it through tothe hot pan. Prok sausages are done at 160 degreesFahrenheit; turkey sausages are ready at 165 degreesFahrenheit.
Stovetop
- Spray a skillet with cooking spray.
- Add sausage.
- Cook over medium-high heat until browned, about 5 minutes,turning links often.
- Reduce heat to medium-low.
- Carefully add ½ cup water to skillet.
- Cover and simmer for 12 minutes or until sausage internaltemperature reaches 160°F.
Cooking times will vary if more than oneegg is cooked at a time. When cooking eggs in themicrowave, always use a microwave-safe container (e.g.glass, ceramic or microwave-safe plastic) and pierce yolkand white several times or whisk before cooking. Nevercook an egg in its shell in the microwave; itwill explode.
Cover the pan and cook the sausages for about 20minutes, turning them periodically with a pair of tongs. Keep thewater to a low boil, since trying to cook thesausages quickly in a high boil will make them splitopen.
Place links on a microwave-safe plate and coverwith a paper towel. Microwave on high, for 1 link: FROZEN:70 to 85 seconds. For more than 1 link, see packagedirections.
To defrost sausages, place them on a plate in thebottom of your fridge, still in their packaging. Put them in themicrowave for 3-4 minutes on the defrost setting. Then,separate your sausages to help them thaw and put them backin the microwave. Check them every 2 minutes until they'refully thawed.
To cook sausages in a microwave:
- Select your chosen dish.
- Lay out your sausages, cut or whole, depending on what you'redoing with them once cooked.
- Cover the dish and microwave on high power for 2-5 minutes,depending on how many sausages you're cooking.
Microwave. Place 2 links on a papertowel-lined plate. Microwave on high for 25-30 seconds* oruntil heated through.
Microwave. Microwave on high for 30-35seconds or until heated through.
Cover the hot dogs with another paper towel. Cookon high for 35 seconds. That should be enough to heat them through,but you may have to add another 10-15 seconds. Wrap the bunin a paper towel and zap it for about 15seconds.
Pork sausages should be grilled to 150 degrees F./65degrees C. Poultry sausage should be cooked to 160 degreesF./70 degrees C. The above sausage is my favorite all-timesausage, chicken with basil tomato and garlic, from Charcuterie,bien sur.
Preheat oven to 350° F. Place sausagein oven for 20-25 minutes then turn to the other side. Ifsausage is sticking to the pan, add water to coatthe bottom of the pan. Continue baking for another20-25 minutes.
Cooked Sausage only needs to be re-heated,since it was cooked thoroughly during processing. Be sure toreheat thoroughly. Steam: Remove pan of boiling water fromheat and add sausage. Cover the pan and let it stand10-15 minutes.
04 Brush the cooking grates clean. Grillthe sausages over direct medium heat, with the lid closed,until browned and fully cooked (160°F), 8 to 10 minutes,turning occasionally. During the last 30 seconds to 1 minute ofgrilling time, toast the rolls, cut side down, over directheat.
Sausages
- Step 1: Preheat Your Oven. Preheat the oven to 400degrees.
- Step 2: Prep Your Sausages. Place sausages in a roastingpan.
- Step 3: Bake Your Sausages. Bake the sausages for 15 to 20minutes.
- Step 4: Test Your Sausages. Pierce the sausages with the tip ofa knife or the tines of a fork to test for doneness after 15minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 400F. Line a baking sheet with foil orparchment paper.
- Put the sausages on a baking sheet in a single layer, so theyare not touching.
- Put Italian sausage in the oven and bake for 25 minutes.
Step 1. Take one end of the filled sausage casing andmake three links of your desired length. Do this by simplynipping the sausage between your thumb and forefinger and therotate the sausage. Start with the second link by rotatingthis sausage away from you then move to the third link androtate this one toward you.
Grill the sausage: Place thesausages directly on the grill grates andgrill for 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through.Once done cooking, transfer the sausage to a dish orplate and tent in foil to keep them warm.
Place chicken sausages in a large skillet and add1 inch of water. Add 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil to theskillet, 1 turn of the pan. Bring water to a boil, then reduce heata little. Allow all the liquid to cook away, then brown andcrisp the casings, 5 to 6 minutes.
To ensure product is cooked thoroughly, use a cooking ormeat thermometer to make sure sausage has reached an internaltemperature of 160°F.

After removing skins from sausages, break them upinto 10-inch microwave-safe casserole. Add onions, bellpepper, celery and garlic. Microwave at high setting 5 to 7minutes, or until sausage is no longer pink, stirringhalfway through cooking time. Drain off fat.
Method 1Pan-Fried
- Heat a nonstick skillet. Place a medium nonstick skillet on thestove over medium-low heat.
- Add the sausage. Arrange the sausage links or patties in thehot skillet.
- Pan-fry until cooked through. Cook sausage links for 12 to 16minutes; cook sausage patties for 10 to 12 minutes.
- Drain and serve.
To cook frozen sausages, lay them on abaking tray and add a tablespoon of olive oil. Then,bake them in the oven for 20-25 minutes at 375degrees Fahrenheit. Make sure you turn the sausages a fewtimes so they cook evenly. Alternatively, submerge yourfrozen sausages in a large saucepan filled with coldwater.
You may prepare precooked bratwurst in themicrowave, but fresh bratwurst requires other methods-- parboiling and grilling, for example -- to ensure that itis fully cooked. Check the label to determine whethermicrowaving is an appropriate cooking method for thebratwurst you wish to serve.
