Once you've made the decision to upgrade to a broadband internet connection, you'll have to either hook it up yourself or get someone to hook it up for you. If you're not confident in your abilities and have a friend or family member who can handle the job, great.
During the Installation Process, the technician will:
- Setup your new modem.
- Confirm all wiring and connections are working outside your home (new wiring may be required)
- Setup your Username and Email.
- Confirm your Internet connection is working.
There are three ways of getting
Internet service
installed so you can connect to Wi-Fi and start using it: Professional
installation. Self-
install kits. Self-
installation with own equipment.
You can expect the receive a box that contains:
- A modem.
- A router.
- Ethernet cables.
- Coaxial cables.
- Step-by-step instructions.
However, for now, all you need to know is that your telephone, TV, Internet and other communication needs can all be handled by running only two types of cable—all headquartered in a central distribution system you can install yourself. Existing phone lines and jacks can coexist with your new system.
If you're installing both Spectrum TV and internet, you'll need to attach a coax cable to your outlet, then attach the coax splitter to the free end of the coax cable. From there, attach two more cables to the splitter's ends, connecting one to your receiver and one to your modem.
Internet LightIt isn't on during normal use, but turns red if there is a problem. This light flashes green when the Hub's downloading a software update.
Internet access can be denied for many reasons such as account access restrictions, IP blocks, system outages, line problems and many other things. However, in this instance, it is likely to be something to do with the hub itself denying you access due to a problem with your account.
Setting up a home Wi-Fi network is easy and takes about 20 minutes.
- Find the best location for the wireless router.
- Turn off the modem.
- Connect the router to the modem.
- Connect a laptop or computer to the router.
- Power up the modem, router, and computer.
- Go to the management web page for the router.

Virgin V6 box connectionsTo connect one V6 box to your Virgin hub and your TV, you'll need an ethernet cable, a cable adaptor and an HDMI cable. You'll be able to connect these cables at the back of the V6.
If the Wi-Fi light is flashing green and is accompanied by a white power light, this means that the hub is on and working. If the Wi-Fi light is flashing green and is accompanied by a green power light, this signifies that the hub is on but the Wi-Fi isn't connected.

If an engineer is not required, a router will be sent to your new address and broadband setup will be completed for you.
So why do customers have to wait so long for broadband? It's just that it's a manual process. Each connection takes roughly 30 minutes, and only two technicians can work on an MDF of this size at once - there's simply not the room.
If you want to physically connect any devices to your router, such as a printer, game console, TV or internet phone system, you'll need an Ethernet cable for each. Plug the wired device into one of the available ports on the back of the router.
