You have to go north—all the way to the Canadian border—to see Minnesota's highest waterfall as it plummets 120 feet down the Pigeon River at Grand Portage State Park.
High Falls is located in Rochester's High Falls Historic District adjacent to the downtown area. The waterfall can be easily seen by walking from other attractions in the downtown area or for those exploring the Genesee Riverway Trail.

Lake Awosting is a beautiful and remote swimming destination in the Minnewaska State Park Preserve at the heart of the Shawangunk Mountains. The lake is staffed between 11:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. during the summer season, and swimming is not permitted outside of these hours when lifeguards are not on duty.
While the lake is closed to swimming and fishing, the park's aqua cycles, canoes and kayaks are still able to navigate the shallow water in the reservoir, park officials said. Indian Springs State Park is located at 678 Lake Clark Road, Flovilla.

The falls can be accessed from a small dirt road along Route 50 on the north side of the river. The road leads to a small turn around and parking area next to the falls. There is much better signage for the Healey Falls locks on the south side of the river, but you cannot see the falls at all from the locks.
The short way is by following a rope to help with the climb down the steep escarpment, but I've never seen it myself. If you make it to the base of Upper DeCew Falls, keep your eye out for Tunnel Falls. Also known as Faucet Falls, you can access it by walking behind the plunge on the left side.
The undisputed main attraction of the Eastern Grand Lake Area of Algonquin Park are High Falls on Barron Canyon. Here Stratton Lake drains into High Falls Lake through a series of small waterfalls crossing two 50-foot contour lines over half a kilometer or so forming a series of cascades.
