Toyota Certified Warranty.Certified Toyotas are backed by a 12-month, 12,000-mile limited warranty, as well as a 7-year, 100,000-mile Powertrain warranty. Plus, the certified program warranty includes one year of Roadside Assistance. This warranty is honored at more than 1,400 Toyota dealerships in North America.
First, the cost will depend on where you get the warranty. You can choose to purchase protection from the Toyota dealership when you buy your car or use a third-party provider instead. Estimates suggest that a Toyota extended warranty will cost between $1,000 and $1,500 when purchased from the dealer.
Warranty coverage is automatically transferred at no cost to subsequent vehicle owners.
Dealers tout CPO cars as the better choice because of their extended warranty, near-mint condition, and savings over buying new. But CR's auto experts say that a regular used car can be a better value.
If your car is new, one thing to remember is you can only buy an extended warranty from Toyota before 3 years/36,000 miles, which is when the factory warranty expires. And if you're buying a used car, you can only add the warranty on the day that you purchase the vehicle.
Factory WarrantiesVirtually all CPO vehicles are covered by two: what's called a limited powertrain warranty on the engine, transmission, and other expensive major mechanical components; and a second, limited bumper-to-bumper warranty, which covers most other issues like the air conditioning and infotainment systems.
Components other than covered equipments: The powertrain warranty covers the engine, transmission and transaxle, drivetrain and restraint system. Other warranties cover parts like the seatbelt and tires. Brakes, steering and suspension items are not warranted beyond the applicable comprehensive warranty coverage.
ToyotaCare,1 a maintenance plan that covers normal factory scheduled maintenance with the purchase or lease of every new Toyota for 2 years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first. 24-hour Roadside Assistance is also included for 2 years and unlimited miles.

Yes, you are allowed to negotiate when you're buying a certified pre-owned car. After all, you're paying a premium for that inspection and certification, so it just makes sense to try to negotiate the price down.
The months of October, November and December are the best time of year to buy a car. Car dealerships have sales quotas, which typically break down into yearly, quarterly and monthly sales goals. And all three goals begin to come together late in the year.

You'll get much better rates on a CPO car than you will on other used models. Lower insurance rates: Relative to comparable new cars, CPO cars are less expensive. Their lower value brings the benefit of more affordable insurance rates. Allows you to purchase a model you may not be able to afford if purchased new.

The general rule of thumb is that for mainstream models that have a good reputation for reliability, the CPO isn't worth spending more money on, but if you can get the extra coverage without any additional cost that is probably the car to buy.
A certified pre-owned car is one that has been lightly used, thoroughly inspected (and repaired if necessary) and then covered by a manufacturer-backed extended warranty. These benefits are part of your car purchase — you don't buy them separately.
A dealer can call a used car “certified” or a “certified pre-owned vehicle” if they have a mechanic perform a complete inspection of the car. The dealer must give you a copy of the inspection report.
In general, we don't recommend buying an extended warranty on a used car. Warranty companies are in business to make money, and they've usually done their homework. This means you'll likely spend more on the warranty than any repair costs your car may accrue during the period when the warranty is valid.
Con: They Are Still Used CarsNo matter how well maintained or thoroughly refurbished they are, CPO vehicles are still used cars. No inspection will uncover every little problem, and wear items like brake pads and shock absorbers will not last as long as new ones – even if they pass muster for a CPO inspection.
