Almost all UK phone numbers, including the code, are 11 digits long. There are a few areas with 10 digits but not many. For example, Whatton in Nottinghamshire, 01949, has 5-digit numbers, making 10 digits in total.

Numbers for mobile telephones are 11 figures long and start with the digits ' 07', however those starting '070' are 'personal numbers' which forward to another number and can be charged at a premium rate to pay for the diversion costs.Changeover to 07 numbers
There was no immediate change to mobile phone numbers, but millions of spare numbers starting with digits 02 to 09 were created for future use. Mobile numbers in China must always be dialled with all digits (12 digits, including a "0" prefixing the "1nn" within China), no matter where they are being called from, so no hyphens are used.
1,000,000,000 (one billion, short scale; one thousand million or milliard, yard, long scale) is the natural number following 999,999,999 and preceding 1,000,000,001. One billion can also be written as b or bn.

A three digit code starting with 07 indicates that the number is for a mobile phone. All national numbers start with one leading 0, and international calls are specified by 00 or +. On July 1 new rules are coming into force, changing the way you're charged for calling any number beginning with 08, 09 or 118 from your mobile. Calls to 0800 and 0808 numbers from landlines are already free, but calls from mobiles to these and other numbers had widely varying charges – no more.

To call New Zealand from the U.S., just follow these dialing instructions:
- First dial 011, the U.S. exit code.
- Next dial 64, the country code for New Zealand.
- Then dial the 1-digit area code (see sample calling code list below) followed by the 7-digit phone number.
