Look at the 10th figure of the VIN. This stands for the year of the vehicle model. From the years 1988 to 2000, the tenth VIN figure would be "J" to "Y" and thereafter the 10th figure was changed to reflect a number.

Yamaha Motor Company's Big Bear 350 is an all-terrain vehicle. It was introduced in 1987 in two colors -- red and white. The 350 -- Yamaha's first ATV 4-by-4 model -- was produced until 1999, but with some modifications during its course of production.
The Blaster has no reverse, no automatic clutch and no electric start leaving it behind some of its competition in terms of model features, but that doesn't matter to Blaster owners.

How to Find The Year of a Yamaha Dirt Bike
- Locate the serial number or VIN on the dirt bike head, motor or on the title. Check to see if the number has dashes or spaces. If it has dashes or spaces it is a pre-1981 dirt bike--this number is a serial number.
- Compare a serial number to the serial number table. The table may be arranged by model and year.

- The number at the middle left is the prefix model code.
- The letter in the middle is the driveshaft length - S, L, X or U.
- The number at the middle right is the serial number.
Locate the VIN number of your Yamaha Banshee. The VIN number is generally found on the bottom left of the frame underneath your stator cover.

To put the bigbear into reverse it MUST be in Neutral. Once in neutral turn reverse **** and shift down. it will stay in reverse until you shift up.
