Eating either sweet or tart cherries may help you get more and better sleep. Studies suggest that this effect of cherries happens within days. But you need to eat a lot of cherries -- 25 sweet or about 100 tart cherries a day.

Cherries should be measured for size by placing the cherries stalk-up into the holes. The size of the cherry is determined to be the stated size, or larger when it does not fall through the size hole. Cherries should be labeled as the size that they are and larger with only a 10% tolerance on undersize fruit.
The chopstick methodRemove the stem from a cherry and hold the fruit between two fingers. Grab a hold of a chopstick and position the smaller end into the stem hole. Gently but firmly press the chopstick down into the pit and push it out of the cherry.

The cherry tomato weighs about 1 ounce, the plum tomato about 3 ounces, and the regular garden tomato weighs about 6 ounces. We then started chopping and found it took 27 to 28 cherry tomatoes, about 3 plum tomatoes, or 1.25 medium round garden tomatoes to reach the 1 cup mark.

I weigh the cherries, eat them, then weigh the leftover pits and stems and subtract. When they count the calories, it is for the edible part only, so you can weigh it with the pit, if you want. They do.
