They can be expensive to repair if the major components are problematic. But this is true of any car, not just Corvettes. If you can handle simple maintenance like changing oil, rotating tires, and other simple tasks, then a Corvette can cost the same as any other sports car.
But from 1953 to 2017 what year Corvette would be your most least desirable Corvette to own. All Corvettes are great and even when we were all small kids just thinking about some day owning or being able to own and drive any Corvette would be breathtaking.

1985–86 Corvette Coupe
While the 1984 Corvette tends to be the lowest price 'Vette out there, we have excluded it from this list mostly because their actual value – even at such a low price point – is questionable at best. Its top speed is rated at 205 mph, more than any naturally aspirated Corvette up until now.
Available body styles include a coupe and a hardtop convertible. While other midengine two-seaters and exotic luxury sports cars are prohibitively expensive, the C8 Corvette is a supercar for the masses.
Fully loaded models can top $80,000. The 2020 Chevy Corvette has an official starting price of $59,995, fulfilling GM's promise that it would start under $60,000. The 2LT trim level starts at $67,295 and the 3LT starts at $71,945. The Z51 Performance package costs $5000 and can be added to any trim level.
In short, while the Corvette definitely uses mechanical parts more expensive then other Chevrolet cars, it is simply a more expensive Camaro. Supercar performance only costs $70,000 - you need to tune the engine, improve the brakes, upgrade the material parts, lower the drag coefficient, and viola!
So, Corvette do not depreciate in value at the same rate as regular cars and trucks because they are more than just appliances. Your car is an investment and should provide as much equity it requires. If the value of Corvette depreciates also, then also that value does not goes behind the ground.
2011 ZO7 best and fastest on the track. Lightest is the 2006 less options best trans 2008 and newer. They all are about the same though just better tires or brakes and some traction control on the new one's. The best ZO6 is always the one in your own garage.
They are great cars and you can get a lot of Corvette for a fraction of the price of a new one. So, Corvette do not depreciate in value at the same rate as regular cars and trucks because they are more than just appliances. Research has surveyed that depreciation costs a car more than insurance and everything.
The Z06, Indy 500 Pace Car, and 50th Anniversary models already show appreciation. In more detail, C5 Corvettes with a manual transmission are worth 10 percent more than automatic cars, and convertibles retain a higher value than coupes, believe it or not.
Hagerty reports some C5 Corvette variants have begun to appreciate in value and it could be the time to buy. Specifically, the collector car insurance company says prices will likely bottom out next year after all C5 Corvettes experienced a 2 percent decline in value over the past 12 months, save for a few variants.
On average, a sports car depreciated 46.6 percent over five years. The Corvette placed third for the way it held its value better than many other nameplates.
While watching Nightly Business Report on PBS, I thought that maybe buying a corvette is actually a good "investment". First, unlike a paper-backed asset like a share of stock, a Corvette is a physical entity which will never be worthless. It may become more solid (harder to sell) but it will never lose all its value.
The Chevrolet Corvette is a costly car to cover, with average annual rates $1,352 greater than the national average. Texas Farm Bureau offers the cheapest car insurance premiums for the Chevrolet Corvette, with an average annual expense of $1,154 — 46% cheaper than the average of top insurance companies.

The most powerful production Corvette ever made, ZR1 wields a new hand-assembled 6.2L LT5 supercharged small block V8 engine — an engineering marvel deservingly crowned by the book-matched carbon-fiber cover.
The Corvette is arguably the most dangerous car in history, having claimed more lives than any other automobile. What fatal flaw is responsible for Corvette's atrocious safety record? The driver. Specifically, the type of driver that would purchase a Corvette.
Maintenance Costs
Although Corvettes are still far more affordable than most European sports cars, it is a performance automobile and, as such, has more expensive hardware under the hood and chassis.Overall the newer corvettes (C5-C6) are very reliable. They don't have a ton of high tech in them, so there is little to go wrong electrically. The motors and transmission are also tried and true designs that have been around for a very long time in some form or fashion.

Corvettes are generally very well treated. They are expensive, so they don't get left out in the weather very much. They are sports cars, so their owners tend to have something else as a daily drive, so a Corvette should have comparatively low mileage.
You can drive the Corvette at a reasonable speed pretty easy. You do have to repect the power these cars have as they can get way from you when you decide to nail the throttle. It's way faster than anything you have driven so far. YouTube Corvette crash videos can be an eye opener.

The biggest reason why no model-year 1983 Corvettes were sold has to do with the state of California, which changed its emissions requirements before C4 production began. The Corvette team didn't do that. Instead, they worked on making the car better in all possible aspects before starting the line in earnest for 1984.
