All local trains would serve Secaucus, Newark Penn Station, Newark Airport, Rahway, Metropark, New Brunswick, and Princeton Junction for connectivity with the Express/Regional trains.
Monthly Season Tickets offer great savings compared to buying four individual Seven Day season tickets. Season Tickets can also be purchased for any duration between one month and one year.
It is the nation's only high-speed intercity passenger rail provider, operating at speeds up to 150 mph (241 kph) over current infrastructure. More than half of Amtrak trains operate at top speeds of 100 mph (160 kph) or greater.
Travel on NJ TRANSIT is not free. We are encouraging customers to purchase their tickets on the mobile app or at any Ticket Vending Machine. Currently, the only way to walk from New Jersey to New York City is by taking the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee. The Outerbridge Crossing in Perth Amboy does not have an open walkway and pedestrians cannot access the Lincoln or Holland Tunnels.
LIRR offers both the $5.50 Round-Trip (2 rides) separately or on Round-Trip ticket types. If bought separately, a $1 fee will apply ($6.50 total cost). Round-Trip tickets may be purchased with a $5.50 MetroCard on the reverse side.
Take advantage of huge savings on rides from Newark (EWR). Before the change, Uber estimated the cost of a fare from EWR to Midtown Manhattan to be roughly $83, but with the new prices, the cost estimate drops to just $44. Translation: Huge savings for passengers.

In general, most of the neighborhoods in Jersey City are safe to walk around in during the day, however, at night the crime rate is know to increase. It's a good idea to avoid the southern areas of the city close to Bayonne, such as Greenville, due to it being an impoverished and high crime section of town.
NJ TRANSIT provides direct rail service to Penn Station New York on five rail lines and offers simple connections in Newark when traveling from the west or connect at Secaucus Junction from trains northern rail lines. And, light rail connections at Hoboken, Newark, and Trenton expand the options to start any trip.
YES. If you live in Jersey City or anywhere in New Jersey and commute to New York, you have to file in both states. In fact, if you are commuting, your employer is required to withhold your New York taxes and even report your wages earned to New Jersey.

Is there a direct train between New Jersey and Washington? Yes, there is a direct train departing from Newark Penn Station station and arriving at Washington Union Station station. Services depart every 30 minutes, and operate every day. The journey takes approximately 2h 39m.
The Café Car is generally located on the upper level in the middle of the train, though some trains may have a lower-level Café Car. If you're on a train with a lower-level Café Car, look for "California Café" signs near the stairwell.
