Calcium Chloride is a generic firming agent that can be used in pickling. Many people like it and swear by the results; a few still say that nothing will ever replace the crispness of an actual limed pickle.
They are perfect to use to use in so many dishes! Some of my favorites are to use my pickled banana peppers on a Greek Salad, on even on a pizza, or sandwiches. I love to use my pickled jalapeno peppers on even on top of soups, chilis, tacos, hotdogs, and any recipe that calls for jalapenos.

Jalapeños: Sliced jalapeños are best stored in the fridge, while whole jalapenos can keep in the fridge or at room temperature. – Store whole peppers at room temperature if using them within two to three days. Stored properly, whole jalapeños will keep for up to one week in the fridge.

A: Fresh jalapeno peppers do have different heat levels, so I have come to rely on jarred pickled jalapenos for recipes, for both heat and convenience. Just use the amount called for in the recipe (adding a little extra if you want it quite spicy).
