It works for me. I know several other people that are professionals that use Nuendo or Cubase. In my experience, musicians gravitate towards Nuendo, Cubase, or Logic, while engineer types tend to favor PT.

If your workflow takes the form of building a track in an arrangement, delving into sound design and composition, then Logic is for you. Logic's MIDI editing tools are often regarded as superior to Ableton's, and the Audio Recording and Processing in Logic is hands down the better deal.
What features does Ableton Live have that Logic Pro doesn't, and vice versa? One key feature that Ableton has that isn't there in Logic is the Session view where audio clips are presented as a grid - a bit like a spreadsheet. The session view is great for improvising with multiple loops to create arrangements.
Pro Tools - great for tracking bands, editing audio and working with audio. Midi is not bad but not as nice to work with. Ableton - Great for creativity specially with EDM. Not as easy for audio and editing, but competent enough.
If you're not sure which to purchase, the Standard or Suite version, I highly recommend going with Ableton Live Suite simply because of Max for Live.
That being said, great things can happen when you remove yourself from your comfort zone, and if you've got the time to take on a new endeavor, Ableton Live is a lot of fun to use and is a fantastic tool for music production, regardless of the genre.
It is the DAW of choice for many a famous EDM producer, performer or DJ. A list of top Ableton Live users reads like the Who's Who of EDM. Who Uses Ableton? Skrillex, Deadmau5, Diplo and Flume to name a few.
Ableton Live is very good for certain types of producers, usually those in specializing in electronic music production. The live functionality, intuitive loop-based production, built in instruments, samples and effects and integration with Ableton Hardware make it well worth the high price tag.
No, Ableton is not difficult to learn! In fact, Live is one of the easiest DAWs to learn. Understanding the fundamentals of Ableton is simple. The minimalistic interface and pre-installed instruments and sounds makes it easy for eager musicians to get started.
For the number of features, FL Studio is the clear winner. They jam-pack their software with so much that you'll never run out of things to explore, which can be a good or bad thing, depending on your workflow. That being said, Ableton Live still has killer, high-quality features that makes it a more than capable DAW.
Hip-Hop, since its beginnings, is a sound that has always relied heavily on rhythm. Ableton Live is a package that does amazing things with rhythm. Hip-Hop, currently, and for some time, has greatly utilized (though not exclusively) recorded audio loops.
In both his studio and live shows Skrillex uses Ableton plus an array of plugins to enhance its functionality. These include things like the FM8 and Vanguard synths and effects units by Izotope and Ohm Force among others. He has also been also known to use Serato for some DJ gigs.
Marshmello Uses Ableton to Make Music, You Can Learn It Too for Cheap.
FL Studio has been used by numerous highly visible hip hop and EDM producers, including Porter Robinson, Madeon, Soulja Boy, Martin Garrix, Avicii, Imanbek and Deadmau5.
Ableton is so versatile that you can pretty much make/record anything with it. A lot of EDM producers actually use Ableton too, and love it, one such example that I'm sure anyone knows is deadmau5 lol.
It really is a one-stop shop for making music, and one of the best DAWs on the market. A new licence for Cubase Pro 10 is at the more expensive end of the DAW market, but it still represents good value for money when you look at the features packed into the software.

Pro Tools has plenty of things that are much better and faster than Cubase, and the other way around as well. Like I've said many times here, I prefer Cubase overall, but since I'm back on PT now for new projects I do love some things about it that are faster and more intuitive than Cubase (and vice-versa, of course).
Similar yes but Cubase is so much better than Logic on certain things which are critical, such as fast audio editing, effective and musical midi editing (check the latest 8.5 features if you haven't yet and you will see what I mean) and a much superior mixing console (only rivalled by ProTools).
Cubase does better when it comes to audio mixing and recording as well as composing and arranging with MIDI sequencing. However, if you are looking to create and program beats and music, then there is no better DAW than FL Studio. The Cubase package is still a great option for vocal music production.
If all you wanted was a tape machine & Mixer, Studio one is better. Once detailed MIDI editing is desired, Cubase is better at the cost of the workflow not being as slick. Cubase also is much better for film scoring work. There's a reason most composers use it.
Steinberg's VariAudio is a pitch correction software included in Cubase Pro. It's not a standalone plugin, so you won't be able to use it if you don't own Cubase Pro. But, for those of you with Cubase who didn't realize your DAW has pitch correction, rejoice!
Cubase is virtually an instrument in itself.
