Enemy fetch lands just recently got reprinted in Modern Horizons 2. Before that, they got a reprint as a part of the Zendikar Rising Expeditions. That's why we aren't expecting a fetch land reprint very soon. However, once it does happen, we might only get the allied fetch lands, since these had fewer reprints.
They're worth the price to competitive players because they're the best lands to use, and competitive players are trying to optimize their decks. If you're on a budget, you could always build BW warriors which is tier 2 but still competitive for FNM.
They are also banned in the recently introduced and very popular format Frontier. However, the Lands are still legal in Vintage, Legacy, Modern and Commander and their high demand and low supply makes them extremely desirable and pricey.

On a low curve in an aggressive deck, you can get away with running a very low number of fetchable lands, but 3 is too few. I think I'd go 4 at minimum, but 6-9 feels more comfortable, depending on fetch count.
The fetch lands will almost certainly drop in price, but it will probably be a temporary drop like we saw in 2017. There will only be a drastic drop down to the $20 range if the fetch lands simply show up again as Standard-legal rares.

When you play cards like Fabled Passage or Cultivate you can't choose a snow dual land as your basic land. But if Binding the Old Gods gets triggered on the next step and you search for a basic forest then you can choose a dual snow land.
You can tap the land for mana after Fabled Passage's ability is fully resolved but while Amulet of Vigor's ability is still on the stack, floating one mana and have the Amulet untap the land so you can use it again the same turn, effectively generating two mana.

Standard, formerly known as Type 2 or Type II, is a rotating constructed format that was created on January 10, 1995. It is the most widely sanctioned constructed format at all levels of organized play. As it is Bo3, this format is called Traditional Standard on MTG Arena.
Prismatic Vista can grab Island and Plains, but not Hallowed Fountain. In such a mana base, Prismatic Vista is the perfect fixer because it can get the Snow basic of any of your colors. Eldrazi decks: Unlike the old fetchlands, Prismatic Vista can get Wastes.
Shocklands (which allow you to "Shock" yourself in order to get an untapped land) have many advantages: Good color depth without loss of tempo. Oftentimes, getting your land into play untapped is worth two life; shocklands give you the option to set that up. Excellent color-fixing with fetch effects.
Mainly because of supply relative to demand. All of the Zendikar fetchlands are significantly moren than any of the Khans of Tarkir ones because there is significantly less supply. Tarn in particular is more expensive than the other Zendikar fetches because it has the highest demand in Modern and Legacy.

All 10 fetch lands are returning as Zendikar Rising Expeditions.Fetch land. Fetch lands are lands that can be sacrificed to search their controller's library for a land of a specific basic land type.
Krosan Verge is amazing. Always run it if your colors allow. Second this. It's probably not as good as Windswept Heath but there is no reason to not run it in any deck that has both Forests and Plains (and even better dual/shocks with those land types).
It's a supply and demand issue, as is the same with black lotus. Fetches are also expensive because of reprinting from far earlier sets. Also it lets you shuffle your library, which actually messes up scrys. The are way overpriced(I have a Windswept Heath).
Yes, this is fine. "Cracking a fetch" is an activated ability of the Fetch Land (ie Scalding Tarn), so uses the stack. So once your opponent has put the ability on the stack, you will get priority before the ability resolves and your opponent actually gets the land they want.
Yes you can. Unless it is a mana ability you can respond to it. As for the number of decks that run fetches, you can look that up.
The fetchlands let you search for any land with one of the stated land types. So a Wooded Foothills can fetch Stomping Ground, Mountain, Forest, Sapseep Forest, etc. You cannot search for any land that doesn't have any of the stated land types.

The "dual" lands and "shock" lands do not have the Basic supertype. They have basic land types, or subtypes, but those are different. Therefore, a Bayou cannot be found using Terramorphic Expanse's activated ability. Only lands with the Basic supertype (printed on the type line of the card) can be found.
Fetchlands do not have any mana symbols and so have a colorless color identity and can be used in any deck.
Sometimes they actively get in the way. Ravnica dual lands count as both basic land types, and sometimes that can be as valuable as the mana they produce.
As a general rule of thumb, you want somewhere between 33 and 42 lands in a Commander deck. Naturally, you want as many special lands as you can find. Lands that generate more than one colour of mana or that have special abilities are always a great shout.
