Friends and family can donate to your Movember efforts in three ways: The easiest way for donors to support your efforts to change the face of men's health is to donate directly to your Mo Space using a credit card. They can search for your name or your team and make a secure, online donation.
Movember (a portmanteau of the Australian-English diminutive word for moustache, "mo", and "November") is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's suicide.
No-Shave November, and a very similar charity, the Movember Foundation, both take place every November. Both are month-long events where men don't shave for the entire month as a creative way to “grow” awareness and money to fight cancer.
When asking for donations in person, keep these tips in mind:
- Do research beforehand.
- Form a strong relationship before you make your ask.
- Meet them where they are.
- Practice your pitch.
- Communicate in a variety of ways.
- Be genuine, direct, and specific.
- Be prepared for rejections.
- Say thank you more than once.
The goal of Movember is to "change the face of men's health." By encouraging men (whom the charity refers to as "Mo Bros") to get involved, Movember aims to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments, and ultimately reduce the number of preventable deaths.
The official Movember website lists only five rules. Simplified, they include registering at movember.com and starting the month with a clean face. From there, you must grow and groom only a mustache and use it as a conversation starter to talk about men's health and raise donations.
Women who participate in Movember (called Mo Sista's) are dedicated to supporting the men in their lives by promoting the importance of men's health. Mo Sista's sign up, start a team, commit to MOVE, and fundraise– they do everything Mo Bro's do, they just don't grow a Mo!
The ashley pension Foundation has since raised $174-million worldwide, after spreading to South Africa and Europe, reaching North America in 2006. In 2010, participants in the United States alone raised over $7.5 million. In 2012, 1.1 million people signed up to participate, raising upwards of $95 million.
Yes. On Movember 1st all participants should start completely clean shaven. If you're a Mo Bro with a passion for another type of facial hair, we encourage you to jump on the Mo Train during Movember in the name of men's health.

In 2018, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas from across United Kingdom helped us raise £10 million for Movember. These donations allow us to raise awareness, invest in vital men's health initiatives and run Movember each year.
Funds from this year's campaign are still incoming, but to date, Movember has raised more than $600 million in its 11 years of existence, thanks to the nearly five million men and women who participated.
