One question I get asked all the time is, “Can I plasti dip over exisiting or old plasti dip?” Basically the answer is yes. In *most cases, the new plasti dip will bond to the old plasti dip and later on you will be able to remove all the plasti dip in one giant piece.
If the two types of paint are not compatible you will see it very rapidly, if that's the case then you will need to go back and apply a primer. The plastic dip you originally mentioned when not be a good choice for many reasons. I believe that plasti-dip is suitable for wood. If you could actually dip it, yes.
Plasti Dip is a multi-purpose, air dry, specialty rubber coating. It can be easily applied by dipping, brushing or spraying. It provides a comfortable, controlled grip that resists moisture, acids, abrasion, corrosion, skidding and slipping.
Plasti-Dip permanently adheres to all rubber, so make sure you are aware of that. It is also not resistant to bird poop. It also fades. And since it's flat, you'll have smudges and swirls all over it.
I placed a piece of "Saran Wrap" type material over the top of the can so the Dip had a better seal than just the lid provided. I then placed its lid back on the can and turned the can upside down so the remaining Dip would act as its own seal preventing any air from getting into the can.
Plasti dip and spray paint are both powered by aerosol. Certain types of foam (styrofoam) are broken down and react with aerosol sprays. Other types of foam, such as eva and craft foam, do not get broken down by aerosol.
EVA foam can be painted to give it a more finished look and custom color. Just about any paint can be used. I generally use brush-on paint because I feel like it gives me more control over the process and outcome, plus you can do it indoors, but spray painting can save you time if you can get the hang of it.
The best paint to use on styrofoam is acrylic paint as it adheres to the styrofoam well. Since styrofoam is so porous, you'll likely need to use several coats of paint to cover it. Use a foam brush to apply the paint and wait for the coat to dry before adding additional ones.
Use acrylic
Acrylic paint is the best paint to use when you want to paint the entire surface or a large section of the foam. It spreads easily with a paintbrush and is thick enough that it won't drown the color into the foam.Plasti Dip is a popular spray-on coating for automobiles. If your car has been coated in Plasti Dip, you can clean it by hand washing it with soap and water. You can also use a pressure sprayer up to 1800 psi or even take your vehicle through the car wash.
By all reports, using a clear over the top of the PlastiDip makes it more difficult to remove, but not impossible. On further research, nearly everyone who has used clear coat over PlastiDip (and actually specifies what type of clear), has used enamel clear.
Lift the edges of the Plasti Dip to peel it off in a big sheet. When the Dip is too thin to be peeled, it has to be scrubbed off with WD-40 or a dip remover. Paint thinner can also be used to soften and scrape away the Plasti Dip.

Both gravity and pressure feed spray guns can be used. Under normal working conditions the material pressure should be adjusted between 20-25 PSI (1.4-1.7 bar) and air atomization between 15 -25psi (1.0-1.7 bar) at the tank. Summarized: the nozzle size is not much of an issue as the Plasti Dip can be diluted up to 50%.

Does Plasti Dip cover paint imperfections? Yes and No, Let me explain. Plastic dip works the same way regular paint does when it comes out the can, so if you start with a scratched surface then you will just be adding to each layer in an uneven pattern.
4 cans is way more than enough, you can probably do 6 tires with 4 cans. I painted my wheels with this kit and had my car shipped a few hours later.
You'll need spray primer, spray paint, a wire brush, rubbing alcohol, tire shine gel, index cards, and soapy water. This protects the tire from overspray. Apply three coats of primer and paint, then voila! You've got a brand-new looking wheel and a ride you can be proud of.
Allow 30 minuts minimum between coats. Apply as many coats as desired (3-4 average). Allow 4 hours minimum dry time before use.
