The Mayor of Puerto Peñasco, Kiko Munro, also insists that Rocky Point is safe to travel to, reminding visitors that there is no U.S. travel advisory about traveling to Rocky Point. Travel to Rocky Point has been on the rise since 2011, launching the tourism recovery period following the Great Recession.

Scarborough State Beach is a popular spot for body surfers. Rhode Island also has several freshwater beaches, including Watchaug Beach where long distance swimming is popular. Peck Pond is a 13-acre fresh water swimming hole, and Spring Lake is an 80-acre lake known for great family beaches and swimming.
Rhode Island is undoubtedly one of the greatest states in the nation – and it's also one of the best places to raise a family. With great schools, lots of access to culture, and plenty of natural beauty, it's no wonder so many people want to live in the tiniest and mightiest state.
“We've turned Narragansett Bay into a swimming pool, which is good for swimming but not good for the marine environment. It's become a dead environment. Most people would agree that the decades of work and investment to reduce the volume of pollutants in the bay has been worthwhile and should continue.
The fee for a season pass for residents is $30 and, through September 2, will be available for purchase at state beaches. Non-resident parking is $12 on weekdays and $14 on weekends and holidays. A season pass is $60 for non-residents.
The Middletown Town Council unanimously endorsed an operating plan formulated by Town Administrator Shawn Brown to reopen Second Beach on June 6 and the Family Campground on June 12.
All Rhode Island-registered vehicles will be subject to resident parking rates; non-Rhode Island plates will be subject to non-resident rates. Any Rhode Islander who already holds a 2019 disability beach pass may continue to use it for entry into state beach parking lots for the 2020 season.
Rhode Island is known for making silverware and fine jewelry. The world's largest bug is on the roof of New England Pest Control in Providence. It's a big blue termite, 58 feet long and 928 times actual termite size.
Though the weather may be cooling down, that certainly doesn't mean that beach season is over quite yet. Skip the crowds, pricey summer beach admission and parking fare – they're free after Labor Day – by taking a relaxing September beach day.
