Harvard is lackluster and the parties aren't as fun as the ones at the state schools their friends attend. There are a number of real obstacles to creating the most vibrant social scene possible at Harvard. There are no large, off-campus bars or similar spaces catered to college students' nights out.
UCLA is definitely a party school; between Greek Life and the social scene Thursday through Sunday nights, you can definitely find a place to "get jiggy with it." However, UCLA students are also serious about their academics; they are highly competitive and work hard to attain good grades.
NYU is not a big party school so most people go to bars and clubs on weekends, so most students feel the need to have a fake id.
