And we're told that the Napa Valley house that is the Mcguffin in the transparent and ham-handed stalker film The Intruder, was listed at $3.5 million - which is the scariest thing in this suspense-free experience.
The Intruder thankfully isn't as offensive as director Deon Taylor's last movie, Traffik, which tried to combine exploitation filmmaking with message-mongering, but it's still empty and lifeless. It's a shame the movie couldn't have been worthy of her talents.
Release date. Initially 'The Intruder' was set to release on April 26, 2019, but later it was postponed by one week to give time for 'Avengers - Endgame' to settle in. Now the movie is set to release on May 3, 2019.
Kevin Conway, known for his roles in films like “Gettysburg” and 'Thirteen Days,” died on Feb. 5 of a heart attack. He was 77.
In the beginning of the film, Charlie tells Scott and Annie that his wife died because of cancer. Towards the end of the movie, we learn that Charlie actually killed his wife (and staged the murder to look like a suicide) because she was planning to divorce him which would cause him to lose his house.
The Intruder is rated PG-13 by the MPAA for violence, terror, some sexuality, language and thematic elements. Violence: A deer is shot, and then cleaned. A character is struck in the head with an empty wine bottle.
What's the movie intruder about?
Scott and Annie Russell couldn't be happier after buying their dream home from a mysterious and lonely widower named Charlie in Napa Valley, California. Their newfound paradise soon turns into a living nightmare when Charlie - still strangely attached to the house - begins to show up and interfere in their daily lives. When his erratic behaviour turns to obsession, the young couple soon find themselves caught up in a violent confrontation that threatens to destroy everything they hold dear.
Married couple Scott (Michael Ealy) and Annie (Meagan Good) buy a house in Napa Valley from Charlie Peck (Dennis Quaid), a deer hunter who claims he lost his wife to cancer two years prior. Charlie tells them he staying at a nearby motel while he waits to leave the state to live with his daughter Cassidy in Florida.
The story unfolds from there, and director Deon Taylor has said the film is a "throwback to the original psychological thrillers". While it is not intentionally based on a true story, audiences might make some connections to reality on their own.
When Scott returns home, Charlie is tying Annie up in an attempt to rape her. He goes to try and get rid of Scott, but the couple ends up fighting back. Charlie thinks the rifle is empty, but Scott took his last bullet when he wasn't looking and loaded it. Annie tells the operator that her husband shot an intruder.
