The District Collector of Ernakulam has declared a holiday for all educational institutions in the district due to the heavy rains that continues to lash the state. The holiday will be applicable even for anganvadis, CBSE and ICSE schools. Kendriya Vidyalaya Schools will not work today.

KOCHI: Ernakulam collector has declared holiday for all schools in Ernakulam on Friday, following heavy rains. The holiday is also applicable to schools under CBSE-KCSE boards and Kendriya Vidyalaya. However, there is no holiday for colleges and professional colleges.
Education minister S Suresh Kumar announced that there will be no holiday for schools and colleges in Karnataka. According to reports, in Karnataka, there are over 73,417 government aided and unaided schools and 5,004 pre-university colleges.
School Holiday Tomorrow Update @ 22:54: Schools in Jammu, Samba and Poonch district have also been closed. All are again advised to note that as per the advisory, all schools, colleges and educational institutes in UP, MP, Karnataka would remain closed tomorrow - November 9.
The district administration has declared holiday for all schools in Ernakulam on Friday. According to the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority red alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur and Palakkad on Monday and in four districts on Tuesday. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has asked people to be vigilant.
