Running clothes - what to wear
- Shorts. Running shorts made of supple nylon are ideal.
- Vest/T-shirt. As we explained in Basic principles, it's best to avoid cotton.
- Base layer/long sleeve top. Again, many people wear Polypropylene long sleeved tops.
- Legwear. If it's cold, running tights are an ideal choice.

You'll need a shirt or two, preferably made of good wicking material, as that will help pull the sweat away from your body and will dry faster than cotton. But, if you're just starting, feel free to wear what you have in your closet. You'll also need running shorts, pants, tights or even a skirt, if you like.
Most coaches will tell runners to always look straight ahead. However, staring straight ahead is hard to do when you are running on uneven, rocky surfaces. These unstable running surfaces force us to look down and scan where we are stepping to avoid tripping and falling.
