For WiFi, you won't pay any monthly bill unless you rent the equipment from your ISP. You will have to pay for internet service, however. If you don't have a wireless access point or wireless on your router you will have to make a one time purchase of such an item but that's it.
An Orbi WiFi System provides a single WiFi network for your entire home. With an Orbi WiFi System, you have one network name and password, and you don't need to change networks as you move around your home. In contrast, extenders work by repeating the WiFi signal of your router to other parts of your house.
Like Google Wifi, the Orbi is a 2x2 router, and can handle two simultaneous streams of data to properly configured devices, per frequency band.
Orbi Cable WiFi Systems can replace your existing cable modem or cable gateway. They connect directly to your cable wall outlet and act as both a modem and a router.
NETGEAR is not an Internet service provider (ISP). To access the Internet from your cable modem or modem router, purchase an Internet plan with a cable service provider. If you do not have a cable Internet service provider, select your region below to view common ISPs: Note: Not all regions or ISPs are listed.

On mine for three years. Better quality connections and throughput than friends' new routers. I have original Orbi system from 2016 working perfectly in my office. About 30 devices are connected to it at any given time.
Since the Orbi isn't a true mesh network, each satellite connects to the router and not to another satellite.
A tri-band AC3000 device, the Orbi router has six internal antennas and can deliver theoretical throughputs speeds of 1,266Mbps to clients (400Mbps on the 2.4GHz band and 866Mbps on the 5GHz band).
We recommend adding a maximum of six satellites to your Orbi WiFi system with a maximum of two satellites in a daisy chain. You can add more than six satellites, but more than six satellites might negatively affect performance. Currently, the Orbi Pro WiFi 6 Mesh system supports 6 satellites.
All consumer level Orbi are mix and match. You can also mix in the Pro outdoor satellite.
