Co-op is a multiplayer gametype found in all Halo games except Halo PC and Halo 2 Vista. It allows two or more people to play the Campaign together. Co-op is also available in the Halo Wars campaign, both via system link and over Xbox Live.
Halo CE and Halo 2 have 2 player co-op. Halo 3 and Halo 4 have 4 player co-op. These both are how they were at launch and have remained unchanged. And even then, 4 player co-op is only available through xbox live.
Halo 5 does not support split screen play. Only one player can play one copy of Halo 5; if you want to play together with someone, you'll also require another console, another copy of Halo 5, and Xbox Live Gold (and a TV/monitor to play it on).
Both online and split-screen co-op campaign play are supported in all six games. Halo 3 – 4 players max online, 2 players max split-screen. Halo 3: ODST – 4 players max online, 2 players max split-screen. Halo: Reach – 4 player max online (Console/PC), 2 player max split-screen (Console Only)
