Advantages of tree topology:
A point to point wiring to the central hub at eachintermediate node of a tree topology represents a node inthe bus topology. Other hierarchical networks are notaffected if one of them gets damaged. A hub, also called a network hub, is acommon connection point for devices in a network. Hubs aredevices commonly used to connect segments of a LAN. The hubcontains multiple ports. When a packet arrives at one port, it iscopied to the other ports so that all segments of the LAN can seeall packets.
The reason switches are known as intelligenthubs is because they build address table in hardware to keeptrack of different hardware addresses and the port to which eachhardware address is associated. The reason why they are compared tohubs because a switch, when started fresh, acts justlike a hub.

In a bus topology, all nodes or devices arelinked with one transmitter or server computer via a single cable(mostly coaxial cable) called Backbone. All nodes are connected tothe bus cable by drop lines. A drop line is a connectionrunning between the nodes and the main cable.

A Bus topology is a network topology inwhich all nodes connect to the network via a centralcable, , called the bus. The bus acts as the sharedcommunication medium that the devices are attached to. In a StarTopology every device is connected to a centraldevice such as a switch.
