Representing existing objects and new ideas with sketches can make the design process more effective and efficient and greatly enhance the ability of others to understand your ideas. Allows them to communicate their ideas more clearly. What is the purpose of sketching your ideas?
2. What is the difference between a two-dimensional sketch and an isometric sketch? A two-dimensional drawing does not show the depth like an isometric image does. An isometric drawing is three-dimensional and shows the height, width, and depth.
In art the size relationship between an object and the human body is significant. In experiencing the scale of an artwork we tend to compare its size to the size of our own bodies. Proportion refers to the relative size of parts of a whole (elements within an object).
Why would the ability to create realistic sketches make a person a more competent designer? Representing existing objects and new ideas with sketches can make the design process more effective and efficient and greatly enhance the ability of others to understand your ideas. A limit to a design process.
Unlike a fraction of a pie, proportion in science and engineering represents relationships between physical quantities. For example, density is a ratio of mass to volume in an object. Understanding ratios as relationships is important to understanding and interpreting scientific data.
One of the most important skills necessary to create an accurate sketch that realistically represents an object is the ability to make careful observations of the characteristics of that object.
Here are my key tips that point towards a successful process in creating strong concepts and compositions for animation.
- Concept art = concept + art.
- Do dynamic research.
- Think inside the box.
- Design loosely.
- Understand composition.
- Use perspective.
- Play with the viewer's perception.
- Know the rules of value.
Different Kinds of Drawing
- Illustration Drawing. These are drawings that are created to represent the lay-out of a particular document.
- Life Drawing. Drawings that result from direct or real observations are life drawings.
- Emotive Drawing.
- Analytic Drawing.
- Perspective Drawing.
- Diagrammatic Drawing.
- Geometric Drawing.
While sketching is a freehand drawing that focuses on capturing the essence rather than going into details, drawing is a slow and more careful expression that makes use of tools and uses colors too. Sketching is done using pencils and charcoal only. Drawing is done using pencils, crayons, pastel, markers, etc.
How much does Sketch cost? Buying a personal Sketch license for the first time will cost $99 USD and include a year's worth of updates. Renewing your license will cost $79 USD and include another year's worth of updates. You can also add new devices to an existing license at any time.
A sketch is not as complicated as Photoshop, someone new to it can also get used to it quickly. Compared to Sketch, Photoshop has more designing and editing features. Sketch has less designing features and is mainly a software for Ux/UI designing. All the images or graphics are not necessarily vectored in Photoshop.
From a tour of the user interface to more advanced features like shared styles and symbols, it's all there for you. By the end, you'll be confident in using Sketch for all your design projects. And, best of all, the whole course is now free to watch!
Tap either the tool or the layer that matches the strokes you want to erase, then tap the eraser and mask away. If you're in Manual Layer Mode, the eraser is always applied to the manually selected layer. Just tap a layer to select it, then go ahead and erase.

To move the tool wheel, tap+hold+drag the outer ring of the wheel (as the center and middle rings bring up other menus). A map of possible zones will appear to help guide you. Let go when it's where you want it.
