Hamlet revolves around the notions of deep revenge, psychological problems which are similar to madness and portrays political and ethical corruptions of the time.
You probably should start with a classic like Romeo and Juliet, the story is so familiar that you'd have no problem keeping up. But if tragedy isn't your thing you might want to pick up Midsummer or Much Ado About Nothing. Those are the first plays I read and I found them delightful and easier to read than some others.
But the truth is everyone in Hamlet acts shamelessly and for us the moral of the play is the production of shame in its audience. Not too much, just enough. "Stay, Illusion!" Illusion is the only means to action. The only truth is found in illusion.
Hamlet is arguably Shakespeare's greatest play, tragicomic, complex and one of the best of his era. It is a psychologically gripping and morally ambivalent play that will haunt you long after its final scene ends. Like his other great play, Romeo and Juliet, the hero dies.
Hamlet is tragedy because the want of poetic justice, for them and the hero, keeps it a painful mystery; and because the chain of cause and effect prevents it equally from being 'Absurd' drama, as does Hamlet's final acceptance of Providence at work in it to 'shape our ends'.
Hence, what moral value had been shown in Hamlet? First and foremost, one of the moral values is friendship. Hamlet is a loyal friend and he expects his friends to be loyal in return. Besides, Horatio is a great example of a true friend.
