Bill Mikkelson. William Robert Mikkelson (born May 21, 1948) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played in the National Hockey League during the 1970s. Mikkelson is best known for posting the worst plus/minus rating in single-season NHL history at -82 for the Washington Capitals in 1974–75.
PPP stands for power play points, which is the sum of goals and assists earned by players on the power play. Nikita Kucherov (Tampa Bay Lightning) led all NHL players with 48 power play points (15G, 33A) in the 2018-19 Season.
A player is awarded a "plus" each time he is on the ice when his Club scores an even-strength or shorthanded goal. He receives a "minus" if he is on the ice for an even-strength or shorthanded goal scored by the opposing Club. The difference in these numbers is considered the player's "plus-minus" statistic.
Plus-minus has become a favored stat among basketball coaches because it shows how the team performed when a certain player is on the floor. It goes beyond points, rebounds and other traditional stats to paint a more complete picture of one player's impact at both ends of the court.
The main flaw of raw plus-minus in a single game is that when a player either plays mediocre basketball with a strong lineup that outscores the other team well or plays well when their lineup is getting killed, the stat does not capture it. This is often the case, particularly for guys that get less minutes.

A player will receive a plus when they are on the ice when their team scores at even strength or shorthanded. A player will receive a minus when they are on the ice for a goal against if the teams is either shorthanded or on the power play.
A game-winning goal (GWG) is the goal scored to put the winning team in the lead, e.g., if the score is 4–2, the game-winning goal would be the third goal scored for the winning team.
A shot on net is any touch of the puck towards the net, that if not for the goaltender intervening, would result in a goal. Blocked shots don't count. If someone shoots the puck and it's tipped, only the "tip" counts as a shot, and the original shot becomes a "pass".
Goals are extremely infrequent events so it takes a ton of time for things like PDO to reach the average. That makes plus minus not predictive of future performance and therefore useless as an evaluative stat. It also includes shorthanded goals for and against which just adds noise. It's not a bad statistic overall.
Empty net goals are charged to the goaltender that was previously in net as empty net goals against (abbreviated as EN, ENG or ENA). Empty net goals do not count against a goaltender's goals against average or their save percentage, but rather are tracked separately.
A high plus total is taken to mean that a guy is a good defensive player. To clarify, an even-strength goal means a goal that is scored when there are the same number of players on each team. In calculating the plus/minus statistic, power play goals, penalty shot goals and empty net goals are not taken into account.
Even strength goal − It is scored when both the teams are with six players each on the ice. Short-handed goal (SHG) − It is made by a team during penalty kill played by a team with less number of players as a result of a penalty to the team players.
To indicate that we want both the positive and the negative square root of a radicand we put the symbol ± (read as plus minus) in front of the root. The square roots of numbers that are not a perfect square are members of the irrational numbers. This means that they can't be written as the quotient of two integers.
The plus-minus sign, ±, is a mathematical symbol with multiple meanings. In mathematics, it generally indicates a choice of exactly two possible values, one of which is obtained through addition and the other through subtraction. In chemistry, the sign is used to indicate a racemic mixture.
On the penalty kill, he gets a plus if his team scores a short-handed goal, but doesn't get a minus if he surrenders a power-goal goal. Offensive players get a minus when an empty-net goal is scored against their team.
Microsoft Word offers a pre-defined shortcut key for some symbols such as plus-minus sign and minus-plus sign: Type 00b1 or 00B1 (does not matter, uppercase or lowercase) and immediately press Alt+X to insert the plus-minus symbol: ±
(mathematics) The symbol ±, meaning "plus or minus", used to indicate the precision of an approximation (as in "The result is 10 ± 0.3", meaning the result is somewhere between 10 - 0.3, that is, 9.7, and 10 + 0.3, that is, 10.3), or as a convenient shorthand for a quantity with two possible values of opposing sign and

The +/- stat is a statistic that looks at the point differential when players are both in and out of the game, to see how the team performs with various combinations. The +/- stat can look at a variety of combinations including the best two player, three player and even five player combinations for each game.
