Quick Notes are the electronic equivalent of little yellow notes. When you create a Quick Note, it's saved immediately as a section in <your name> Notebook. OneNote uses both the Quick Notes and <your name> Notebook to sync your notes to OneDrive.
There are two ways to get your Sticky Notes on Android:
- Within OneNote Open OneNote, and then on the bottom right, tap Sticky Notes.
- On the Microsoft Launcher You can also quickly access your sticky notes without OneNote if you're using Microsoft Launcher as a custom Home screen for your Android phone.

Sticky Notes is a desktop notes application included in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10. It was present in Windows Vista as a gadget for the Windows Sidebar, and originated in Windows XP Tablet Edition in 2002. The program allows users to take notes using post-it note–like windows on their desktop.
Go to File, then select Options. Choose Save & Backup on the left of the window that opens. At the top of this window there should be a Save section and you will see Quick Notes Section, Backup Folder and Default Notebook Location and the location. Change Quick Notes Section to another existing section in your OneNote.
Open Tasks manager, Startup tab and find it, then right click and choose Disable or select and click the Disable button at the bottom.

- In OneNote, right-click the page/section/notebook you want to open on startup and click Copy Link to Page.
- In Start, search for shell:startup to open your user Startup folder.
- Right-click on a blank part of the File Explorer window and click New then Shortcut.
It used to be easier to uninstall OneNote, but under Windows 10, Microsoft really wants you to keep it. To get rid of it you'll need to open the Start menu, search for PowerShell, right click on the result and click on Run as administrator. And you're done, Windows should boot OneNote from your computer.
Oftentimes, even if you change the default printer, certain programs automatically select the OneNote printer, because it was last used within that program. To remove the OneNote printer, simply delete the printer and set a new default.
In the case of OneNote, a special print driver is installed that lets you send your print jobs as images into your OneNote notebooks. You installed a new physical printer on your computer after installing OneNote 2010 or Office 2010, without promoting the printer to act as your default printer.

- On the Start menu, select the gear wheel Settings icon.
- Select System > Apps & features.
- Select Learning Tools for OneNote, and then select Uninstall.
- Follow the directions on the screen.

OneNote for Windows 10 has built-in handwriting recognition that can convert your handwritten notes to typed text. You can also use this feature to convert handwritten ink in your notes to math equations — either for solving math problems or to more uniformly format the equations before you share them with others.
Simple, isn't it? Sadly, these handwriting recognition features are not available in the Android or iOS versions of OneNote yet. So in case you're taking handwritten notes on either of these apps, you'll need to wait till you get hold of a PC before you can convert them to text.

Customize OneNote with your app preferences
- In OneNote for Windows 10, click the Settings and More button. in the upper right corner of the app window, click Settings, and then click Options.
- In OneNote for Mac, click OneNote on the menu bar, and then click Preferences.
To create a section group, do the following:
- Open or create a notebook in which you want to create one or more section groups.
- Right-click any section tab, and then click New Section Group.
- Type a name for the section group and then press Enter.
Unlike in other Microsoft Office applications, there's no Save command in OneNote. That's because manually saving your work in OneNote is never necessary. OneNote automatically and continually remembers and saves everything you do — including typing, editing, formatting, organizing, searching, and sharing your notes.
Open Your Notebooks in OneNote
OneNote 2016 stores all of your notes from your notebooks, which by default are stored in your Documents folder in their own specific folder. Alternatively, they are stored on Microsoft OneDrive. You can also store notebooks on a shared location on your network, or anywhere you want.
